Q:How does the extension connect

A:

Do you have the origional pet yard? This is an extension to it. So you attach it just as you connect the pieces in the origional one…the bottom end you connect by pushing the bottom down with the piece your using to attach… And slide the top in place. The instruction book gives a better description.

Yes. We did this in order to accommodate older staircase. Another tip is to use zip ties to secure it in the event wall screws are inconvenient.

Q:Can this be mounted to wall to be securely in front of a fireplace?

A:

Yes, that is exactly what we bought it for. It mounts above molding and was very simple to do. The only issue may be that the length is not adjustable. You actually insert this extension into the middle of the gate…it is the gate itself that mounts to the wall. This item is the extension piece. We used the gate and this extension to to gate of our fireplace and the bookcases that address on both sides. We are able to get to fireplace through the door. You can move the door to whichever end you need to.

Q:Can you add just one extension?

Q:Will these extensions work with the Supergate Deluxe Decor Gate? We purchased a 3 panel gate system and hope this will work with that system.

A:

Yes this is spring loaded. You can turn the lock a quarter turn to keep in in the unlocked position if desired. If not set at a quarter turn the spring will automatically lock when the door us put back in the closed position.

Q:Can this be installed on a triple slider

A:

I’m not real familiar with the way they are tracked but I don’t see why not. I absolutely love mine, I can keep my door open and feel safe at the same time. I found a video on Youtube showing the install that helped me understand how it worked, that might be the best way to find out.

Q:is there a similar item that does not need drilling, just stick on velcro sides

A:

Q:Can I install this to the bottom track? My Patio doors are tall and I would not be able to reach the top.

A:

I would have to say no, you can’t install it on the bottom due to the door track being in the way. Plus, when installed the bolt receiver needs to have clearance which it has on the top. Since the bolt is spring loaded though, you could always attach a short string/rope to it so you could pull it down while you open the door.

Q:Can a 3 or 4 year old unlock it if they are able to climb up and reach it? My son is an escape artist. He can reach anything in our by climbing.

A:

He would have to be able to reach the top of the glass sliding door. Then you have to pull the knob down while twisting it to unlock it.

Q:Can an adult open the door from the outside? Can it be used to keep kids outside?

A:

No…the lock is inside of the door..the lock has two position… Once the lock is on the track..the door can’t be opened…unless you are in the inside..the lock has a spring level..so you have to be careful not to lock yourself out..yes it keeps the kids outside…like I said the lock is on the inside of the door..

Q:can it be used with door blinds

A:

If your referring to doors with binds built into the glass then yes.

Q:Will this work on a pocket door?

A:

No, definitely not! but a pin or nail on a short chain with a hole drilled on the top of the door will!!

Q:How much space does it need on the door to fit properly? My door only has about 1/2 an inch because of a metal grip.

A:

The lock fits at the top of the door and should not be impacted by the handle unless the metal grip you mentioned is mounted at the top of the door

It works great on the glass door but I don’t think the screen door would be secure enough.

I guess it’s technically possible to use the metal rods to link 2 together side by side, but I think the problem you’d run into is that there wouldn’t be enough tension to keep the gates in place.

A:

Yes, it’s pretty easy for me.

Q:Will one gate plus one extension fit well in a 35 1/2 inch opening? I’m concerned that it’s the max and won’t fit well.

It’s a pretty generic setup. It should work with any type of gate that you screw into the wall. The product is basically a piece of wood you screw into the plastic clamps, then you screw your gate into the wood.

Q:Any chance this will work for an iron railing?

There are two components; an outer square and an inner circle so it depends on the diameter of the iron…if it’s similar to a wood post then it would work….if the diameter of the iron is much smaller it might make it too loose

One side attaches to the wall, the other to the banister.

This is an adjustment for gates to attach to a banister not an actual gate. This provides stabilization. It fits Fits posts 2 3/4 to 3 5/8 inches which would be the width of a single post.

Q:Will this allow me to install a pressure mounted gate if the other side is a wall?

Yes. Both sides are pressure mounted

Q:some reviews say you must drill a hole in your banister for this to work, others say no. Please, which is it?
A:

We did not have to drill a hole. It’s been up for a year and we’ve had no problems but I won’t really know how well it protected the banister until we take it off which will be quite a few more years I hope.

Q:Will it work with an extra tall gate 32″?
A:

It probably would. The product comes with a long 1″ x 2″ strip that that can be cut down to the size you need. Unfortunately, mine have already been cut so I don’t remember how long the strip was to begin with. I would think if the piece wasn’t long enough, you could probably purchase a longer one at a lumber store.

Q:We have a square post (both top and bottom) and the wall on the other side of the steps. Will this work on a 3.5″ by 3.5″ post (top and bottom)?

Yes, it worked well with mine. I have a round banister top, rectangular bottom. There are adapters for round posts. I needed a kidco extension for the gate at the bottom of my stairs, and this apparatus also extends out at least a few inches, just make sure you measure and check if you need an extension too

There should be some that come in the package. If not, I would call Amazon or the manufacturer.

Hi Jazz. No drilling into the floor or bannister is required to put the gate up. There are pieces of wood included in the kit that mount inside the plastic white bracket, and you just drill into those.

Note: I did have to buy a longer bole and a coupler because my stairwell was 1″ too wide, but that isn’t normal, so you should be okay.
