A:

If you have baseboard it will have to mount flush to the top of the moulding unless you notch it which is a pain without proper tools.

Q:Can this mount between an angled wall and banister?

A:

I believe so. One side of the gate is a mount bracket and the gate is on a hinge that swings 180 degrees from the bracket. The other side of the gate is a detachable mount bracket the gate locks onto to close. I don’t see why the detachable mount couldn’t go on the banister and the permanent mount go on the angled wall.

Q:Does this gate swing open or does it telescope back into itself to open?

A:

It will swing open.

Q:Anybody know if this can be mounted into concrete block? (Want to use it in classroom). Thanks!

A:

As long as the correct screws and tools are used. There is a flat panel that gets screwed to the wall and the gate hooks to that.

Q:has anyone used this outdoors to block off deck stairs?

A:

Yes I have. We have vinyl posts and didn’t want to drill into them, so we zip-tied 2x4s to the posts and drilled into that. Our porch is covered, so the gate isn’t exposed to all the elements, but it has held up well for over a year now.

Q:Can 2 of these gates be connected to fill a 120″ wide opening?

A:

You would have to mount one to each side of your opening in which the middle would not lock or secure unless you made something to do this. There is two long strips that attach to the wall one is to hold the permanent side the other the side that opens and locks. Would have attached picture of mine but could not. Hope this helps you.

Q:Is drilling needed?

A:

Yes. The gate has to be attached on both sides by screws which are provided. I used an electric screw gun and was lucky the gated area was finished in wood. The directions were not great and we regretted not assembling in reverse order, but the result is a sturdy, efficient gate.

Q:I have a VERY SMALL dog. How close to the ground and walls can you mount it so the dog can’t squeeze under it? (This dog can squeeze through a four i

A:

Yes, you can mount it as close to the floor as possible, and the small dog should not be able to squeeze under it. GOOD LUCK!!!

Q:We would like to use this to block off a 48 inch stairwell outside. would this be suitable?

A:

Easily. We had to remove a section to fit a 42″ opening on our deck. This gates are great but can be finicky. People have a lot of trouble opening them and sliding the sections into one another. The trick to open is to push the latch button with your thumb and then lift straight up. Most try to pull back and have had a friend break the latch. The company is great and got a new one in the mail in two days at no cost. Use WD-40 on the channels where the sections slide into and they work like a dream. I’ve had these gates for five years and will buy these again if needed.

Q:Pressure mounted or hardware installed?

A:

I installed using hardware. I thought that was more secure.

Q:does it actually fit a 22″ doorway?

A:

Yes, but it is for extra wide opening. You might want to look at a smaller one. Each panel is 18 inches wide with main panel being 19 inches wide. Total 4 panels.

Q:can two add together to expand to 100″ ?

A:

No, I don’t think so both ends are dedicated to hooking to the wall. I don’t think there is anyway to hook 2 together.

Q:is this gate safe for top of dtairs and how easy is to mount? thanks

A:

not sure about top of stairs as mine is in a double doorway. Installation was very easy

Q:Does this gate work if you have baseboards and/or trim on the wall where you want to install?

A:

I have baseboards and i had to put a piece of thin trim going from above the baseboard so that the mounting brackets at each end are evenly spaced out form the wall. Hope that helps.

Q:Can gate open either direction?

A:

Yes, it can provided you have it extended most of the way. If you stack it in the compact position it swings only as far as the stacking allows. It is a great gate!

Q:can you shorten the gate if you don’t tneed all that 62′ space

A:

Yes, it telescopes out so you can make it any size in between 62″ and the minimum size.

Q:Does this work with unparallel walls?

A:

I don’t think that would work. There is a swivel hinge on one side, so the gate can swing, however the latch end requires that the gate go on straight. Hope that helps.

Q:Can panels be added to this item to expand it farther than the 62″? If I bought 2 could I take one apart and expand it?

A:

No, these panels are not flexible and very cheaply made.

Convenient Walk-Through Design

The gate features a convenient design that allows adults to walk through with a simple lift of the lever-style handle that includes a safety-locking feature. The motion requires only one hand, making it easy to operate while carrying items or holding back an eager pet. Prevent your pets from wandering into areas in your house where they can make a mess or get hurt.

I have a 6 lb pomeranian. Would she be able to get out through the bars?

A:

Maybe. My cat can just slip right through the bars, so I had to cut up a cardboard box into panels and fasten them to the gate with twisty ties. The gate now looks like some ramshackle zombie fortification from The Walking Dead.

Q:Will it keep babies out? Is the opening small enough to keep a small child out but allow a cat to get through?

A:

My 13 month/20lbs figured out she could crawl through the cat door in about 5 seconds. However, we’ve had the gate for a week now and she’s only done it a few times (she’s more interested in playing with the cat door), and it does slow her down.

I was thinking of putting some foam pipe insulation (like this: www.amazon.com/dp/B002GKC2VC ) around the edge. She’s just barely big enough to fit through and that might narrow the opening enough to keep her out.

Q:What are the dimensions of the cat door?

A:

10in High & 7in wide

Q:If I put this gate in a door way that still has a door attached, will I still be able to close the door?

A:

Yes, you will be able to close the door. I mounted the gate on our guest bedroom door on the outer part of the frame. Once we removed the cat gate there was no problem with the door. Since we didn’t want to shut the cats out this works for us and our guests can close the door if they want.

Q:The gate can extend to 44″, what is it’s smallest dimension?

A:

The smallest width is 29″.

Q:width of gate

A:

The width without the extention bars is just a couple inches more than an average standard doorway. It should be mentioned in the specs

Q:I don’t need the small bottom opening but the measurements are perfect for my doorway. Do the small door lock ???

A:

The one I have just has a spring loaded pin that latches the door. It does not have an actual lock.

Q:Do you think a smallish 23pd beagle would be able to get through?

A:

Definitely, we have a 25 lb beagle/corgi and he can sneak right through the cat door. We easily fixed this by adding a bit of string to limit the hole size to exclude the pup but allow for ease of access for the cats.

Q:Does the human door stay open unless you choose to close it? Or does it always swing shut?

A:

The human door will stay open, it is not spring loaded. This a good product, well made.

Q:Do they need to be drilled into the walls or Bannister rail?

A:

Only if you want to make it a permanent attachment otherwise they are tension fit so that you can move them around the house as needed. If you think your dog or child will push hard on them then I’d screw them in.

I want to purchase it to use in the laundry room to keep my puppy from eating cat poop. Thanks

A:

I live in an older home, and it fits all the smaller doors. One of the doors is only 28 inches wide, and the gate just fits.

Q:How far apart are the vertical slats? Trying to figure out if my cat could slip t hrough them. Also, the cat door can be closed, correct? Thank you.

A:

2.5 inches. Yes, the cat door can be closed.

Q:My door opening is either 48 inches or 24 inches wide (with one of 2 doors closed). Is there any way this gate could be made to fit?

A:

You would have to get the extension piece sold separatey to get to 48″.

Q:Can I buys additional extensions to make this wider than then 47″? I like that it has the cat door.

A:

Yes, they sell 6″ extensions for it separately.

Q:can the cat climb over it?

A:

Yes, my cats can jump over it.

Q:Can this be used outside also?

A:

As long as you have two sides to provide resistance preferably a wall or a pillar. The gate is the best Ive ever had, and I’ve gone through a few.

Q:We have small cats and dogs, we want the dogs to stay out. The humans to pass, and the small cats not to get strangled. Is this safe??

A:

For me, it has been safe for a long time. My cats totally get the little door and pass through when it’s opened and just stay in when its closed. I think it all depends on the cat. My cats will sometimes play through the bars with their paws, but they’ve never tried to stick their head through the bars. I think my cats would be more likely to try and jump over than stick their head through. I guess it all depends on the cat. Sorry if that’s not very helpful.

Q:My door opening is 46 inches. Will this gate work?

A:

You may need to purchase the additional extension pieces to have a snug fit – the tension rods do extend out pretty far and should fit the extra 2 ” space

Q:How tall is this gate? And how wide is the actual walk through opening?

A:

The gate is 30″ from the top rail to the bottom rail. The actual gate opening is 18″

Q:Will this gate fit an opening that is exactly 72 in wide? Explain what I need to have it fit.

A:

Hi Joyce, the two following gates are at and or exceed your measurement requirements: Midwest Pet Gate, 53-Inch to 96-Inch w by 24-Inch Tall and the Pawhut Wood 72″ 4-Panel Folding Wood Pet / Dog Playpen Fence. I found these two examples by typing in, PET GATE WIDE, in the AMAZON search engine. Hope this helps. The Carlson gate in question is only 44 inches. Hope this helps.

Would this gate work?

A:

My door opening is 36 inches wide. When I ordered the gate it came with two optional extensions – one wide, one narrow. I used the wide extension and it fits my door opening – that might work on the 34 inch door opening, but it would be pretty tight. Using the gate with the narrow extension would fit the 34 inch opening better. This is also dependent on whether or not you drill into the door jamb or use the cups – I used the cups.

Q:How does the pressure mount work? I am having trouble activating it? What purpose do thescrew on sections serve? They don’t seem to tighten anything

A:

If you are not using an extension, just put the long screws (pressure rods) with rubber padded ends into the holes at the top and bottom of gate. Position the gate where you want it it the doorway…while you are holding it in place, spin the “black dealies” on the ends of the gate. This is what tightens the pressure rods into place. On my gate, the direction you spin the black dealies is oposite from top to bottom and left to right.
If you are using an extension, put that onto the gate first and then follow steps above.
Good luck…it’s easy once you get the hang of it!

Q:How tall is the gate?

A:

Product Dimensions: 44 x 1 x 31 inches
31″ high. I have a Samooyed and we had to go to the 41″ high gate

Q:The space I want to use this in has a slight angle – do y’all think it would hold if placed at an angle?

A:

Hi Helen. My doorway also has a slight angle (old house). The screws that you tighten are very easily adjustable for any doorway. Mine ended up with the top screws not as wide as the lower ones. This door is excellent for a weird space.

Q:I get the gates will allow the cats thru the opening, but will the opening keep out a 25lb Cairn terrier??

A:

I believe so. My thirty pound beagle can’t get thru and my 20lb dachshund struggles to get thru so I’m guessing they won’t be able to.

Q:what is the smallest opening that you can use this in

A:

Without using either of the included extensions, my measurement was 24 to 25 inches.

Q:Does the gate swing in both directions

A:

no it only swings one way, but you have the option when installing it to have it swing in to the room or out in the hall.

Q:Could someone provide the size of the pet gate? I have a 23 lbs cavachon dog and wonder if he could get through the pet gate. Thanks!

A:

Yes your dog would fit through the pet door, I have a poodle puppy, and she is six months old, and now finally does not fit through. She used to push right through to get after the cat, so I had to tie a rope around one end of the little door and have it be partially closed. Now that she’s bigger it really is a very nice gate. I’m not really sure how big your dog is, hope this helps.

Q:Is the overall gate 30inches tall?

A:

i believe,i can measure tonight when i get home. thanks

Q:how tall is the gate?

Would this work or do I need any additional parts? Thanks!

A:

NO .IT WILL ADJUST TO THAT SIZE

Q:how tall is this gate?

A:

Actual size is 30″. Comes either tension mount or cup mount (included) so,of course, can be adjusted off floor for optional effective height. Hope this helps.

Q:How wide is the gate opening, we have Irish Wolfhounds, need to be sure it wide enough for them to go thru safely.

A:

It is wide enough for them to go through but I would say get a different gate because if they both try to go through it they may get stuck. hope this helps I have an English Mastiff.

Q:My opening is 29″ and it is going at top of basement stairs for cat and not 2 year old- will it work.

A:

It should work fine, unless you cat can really jump. I have 3 small dogs and it keeps them easily in the hallway. Just make sure it it’s centered in the opening.

Q:Is this gate ok to use at the top of a staircase?

A:

I suspect it is as good good as any. My gate, without extensions, and properly adjusted, is quite solid. Judging by the reviews of others, I suspect the more the extensions you use, the less stable it becomes. But that would be true of any gate spanning a large distance. This gate does have a bar across the bottom that could be a trip hazard. Probably the best advise is don’t put anything at the top of the stairs! But if you must, keep it as far away from the edge as possible.

Q:How tall is this gate?

A:

30 inches and there are nice

Q:My opening is 42 Inches, do I need to buy anything else besides the Gate?

A:

No you do not this is all you need

Q:What is the smallest doorway this gate can accommodate ?

A:

If you use it without the extension, it will fit a 30″ doorway, using the four “adjustment bars” on both sides, at the tops and bottoms. They look like VERY long bolts with wheels on them. You slide the bolt into the holes in the top and bottom rails and turn the wheels until the gate tightens against the door jamb. I know that probably sounds confusing, but you’ll understand when you see the gate in person. I hope this is helpful. I have three of these gates and LOVE them. They seem indestructible. And there’s a small door for cats at the bottom, if you own cats.

Q:Will tho hold back an 85 pound dog without screwing it in? Is it easy to install?

A:

Its very easy to install without screwing it in. Ours in in a doorway so has extra support but it is very solid and has held back our 60 lb puppy.

Q:Gate swing both ways? I’ll install @ bottom of stairs, needs to open out (toward me) to ascend.

A:

No. Just turn it around, that’s what we did. We use it at the bottom of our stairs too. Works well.

Q:does that screw into the wall or not cause i can t have anything screw in i need like a suction cap or somethong to hold the wall from falling

A:

You have the option use it where it screws into the wall or not. I chose not to screw mine into the wall and it works great. I did put some of those round felt floor protectors on the piece the lays against the wall to protect it so that it wouldn’t get scratched up, etc.; it’s worked very well so far. The pressure is tight enough to keep it in place with no screws. They do recommend, though, that you use the screws if you’re using it to block stairs.

Q:We bought these a couple years ago and in our recent move lost one of the feet that presses against the wall. Where can we get a replacement?

A:

I would suggest calling Carlson Pet Products. The address and phone number on the booklet that came with the gate are: 3200 Corporate Center Drive, Suite 105, Burnsville, MN 55306-9804 phone: 952-435-1084. It does say the gates are made in China. Hope this helps you.

Q:Does the pet door swing both ways or only one way?

A:

The pet door does swing both ways but you have to pull back on the latch to change the direction. It does not swing free in both directions without releasing the latch closure. We are going to put a zip tie on it to hold it open all the time. I suppose you could either remove the latch or keep it open with a spacer of some kind to let it swing free all the time. Hope this helps.

Q:Will this fit a 30 1/2 inch door?

A:

Yes , and also can be extended for a larger opening. I have two, and can easily move either or both to other doors if necessary. I have 2 dogs and a cat. I can leave. The cat door open if I choose to allow her access and still keep the dogs in .

Q:What are the dimensions of the small door? I want my cat to get through but not my dog.

A:

It’s about 9inch H x 8inch W, a small- medium dog would fit.

Q:Can you tell me how wide the walk through gate portion is?

A:

Roughly 6-3/4″ wide by 10-1/4″ high. None of my cats have trouble going through it. The door has a swivel latch and can be kept in the open position but is hinged on the side as opposed to the top (like a cat door) so it swings back and forth. Mine usually hangs slightly open and the cats push it the rest of the way.

Q:How I do I get this same product but not in the extra wide size?

A:

We only offer this gate in the extra wide size.

Q:I have a 36″ opening will this work?

A:

Yes

Q:Does anyone know if and how this can be modified to use on a banister?

A:

I would need more detail or a picture to answer this specifically, but I can tell you how it installs so you can determine if you think it would work in the space you are talking about. The gate is held in place with four pressure screw plates located on each corner. I don’t know if that’s the right term, but it describes their function really well. On each corner is an adjustable screw with a flat “knob” that is attached to it (this is what I am calling “pressure screw plates”). To snug it tightly to the wall you just turn the knob which unscrews the bolt and presses…

Q:My opening is 36″. Will this fit? How wide is the gate piece?

Sorry I cant tell you how wide gate is because my husband put it together and I cant tell exactly where pieces start and end. im pretty sure we also purchased the extension — He doesnt remember. Measurements should be in product description. Our opening is 47″. I love gate. It keeps dogs out of kitty litter!

A:

Yes it will work.

Q:How wide is the human walk through door (not the small pet door)?

A:

42inch

Q:Will this work as a baby gate? Im looking for a gate so my 8 month old can’t go into the kitchen/laundry area. Thanks

A:

Yes it will work just like a baby gate. If the baby figures out how to open the small gate to get through you would most likely have to tie it shut.

Q:Can you close/lock the kitty door if you do not want to use it?

A:

Yes! You absolutely can!

Q:Does the pet door swing both ways?

A:

The cat door swings both ways.

Q:How many inches in between the bars?

A:

The space on the door is 2 1/4 inches. On the side panels is 2 1/2 inches.

Q:Hi the gate can attach with the wall mounts without extensions correct? Thx

A:

Yes I have it in a doorway without the extentions

Q:Is the 44″ measured from the first bar to last bar? Or is is being measure from the full extension of pressure mount to pressure fully extended?

A:

Hi. The 44 inches is referring to the full extension of the pressure mount. So for example, if the area you are trying to use this gate in is 45 inches, this gate would be an inch too short for that area.

Q:I have an odd shaped opening. The door frames aren”t square to each other. They are at an angle.Must the two sides of the door frame be square?

A:

Mine I did not put in a door frame. It is just above my stairs with no door frame needed. Just two walls on the sides. I am not sure if that answers your question….

Q:What are the dimensions of the cat door?

A:

10in Height by 7in wide

A:

Yes, it comes with screw mounts. If you see the grey circles on the ends of the top and bottom rails, there are holes for screws in them which makes it a permanent (and very sturdy) gate.

Q:After putting the gate together, the lock doesn’t reach the other end to successfully lock the gate. Is this normal?

A:

If it is not adjusted properly you will have this problem. Try turning the adjusters out more (tightening it in the doorway).

Q:I am woried about scratching the wall.

A:

The part that touches the wall or door frame is rubber and won’t scratch.

Q:Carlson 0930PW Extra-Wide Walk-Thru Gate with Pet Door, White I would like to order 2 of these plus 4 extra ndividually adjustable pressure mounts.

A:

This manufacturer does not offer pressure mounts separately.

Q:are the 2 extension included in the $38.34 purchase price I have a doorway 42 inches wide so need to know the exact measurement

A:

Our doorways were 43.5″ and we used the extension piece that came with it. You may be able to purchase additional extensions separately.

Q:I have a 42″ opening. Will this work?

A:

Carlson claims it will fit up to 44″ You will need to use both extensions which are included

Q:The description says this is a 29 inch gate, and has 10 inches worth of extensions, meaning it is a 39 inch gate. Why does it say 44 inch gate?

A:

I am not sure, we used for a doorway and did not use the extensions. hope this helps.

Q:how tall is the gate

A:

30 inches, however, if you are using for a really small pet, there is the possibility of them getting through the side of the gate. Our dog is a Pekinese and King Charles Cavalier Spaniel, weighs 6 1/2 pounds and she can get head through one side

Q:I have an opening of 117″ I’m wondering should I buy 2. Gates & then a 24″ & a 6″ extension of should I purchase 1 gate & 3 -24″ & 1- 6″ inch ext?

A:

No

Q:Our doorway is 47 inches. Will this fit or will it be too small? Thank you in advance!

A:

No

When open it will swing one way then the cat can’t push though once the lock stops him from coming.

A:

How about putting wedge to keep the locking no. I the unlocked position?

Q:How Wide is the OPENING for Adults to walk through? It looks very narrow in the picture…like we’d have to walk through sideways to fit….

A:

Wide enough for a normal sized person but not overly generous

Q:will this work in a 28″ opening

A:

Yes

Q:If I have a 52″ opening to cover–does it work with double extensions? Can I do 2 extensions that come with it (=44″) plus the 12″ extension?

A:

The extensions allow you to use it up to 44 inches. It will not cover a 52 inch opening.

Q:I need a gate 48″ wide can you add extenders?

A:

it comes with two and then you can extend with the noby things on the end. not sure if that will get you out quite as far as you need but i thought i would need larger for the opening at the top of my stairs and ended up not needing either of the extenders and didn’t have to unscrew the nobs that far. hope this helps

Q:I need 48″, what size extensions come with it? (I would rather not put 4 pieces together to get what I need)

A:

Not sure on sizes but I have small dogs 3 and 4 pounds they go right threw slats of gate.

Q:My door opening is 31″ will I need an extension?

A:

We ordered this product last month. Our opening was 40 inches and it worked for us but with very little room to spare. It comes with two extension pieces in the box, you most likely won’t even need to use both if your opening is only 31 inches.

Q:how wide is the gate?

A:

It will work with an opening from 28 inches to 44 inches, as it comes with 2 extensions that can be removed or added as needed. One opening I used it in was 29 inches wide, and the other was 31 inches wide.

Q:i cant get the screw on the top handle side to go all the way in, so the gate doesn’t work only near the handle- anyone else have this problem?

A:

The only trouble I had was getting the extensions, one on each end, to stay attached to main portion of gate while fitting to doorway.
Is the problem because the holes don’t align – I’m a little unsure of what/where I should look at on my gate to help

Q:how wide is the gate without extensions?

A:

I want to think it is 42″ It will fit a standard door with no problem. Handicap also!

A:

My doors are not quite 32″ so works fine….. but I did not have to use extension they include in the box…. it should work fine! I do have 2 more of these gates and one of them using extensions covered almost 60″….. I LOVE these gates because they are very easy to install and very simple to open…. Only issue: my cat does NOT understand he can walk through gate, so he jumps the gate….. crazy cat!

Q:how wide is the person opening

A:

16 inches

Q:Can you add more extensions to make it fit 50″

A:

It looks like if you can find extra extensions that you could make it wider.

Q:What do I need to purchase to have the gate fit a 60″ opening? the gate and the 24″ extension. Does the extension fit easily into the gate?

A:

I would think that would work and yes the extension fits easily into the main gate. I used the gate for a 48″ opening without the 24 extension and it was about 2 inches short to hold sturdy to the opening I just used blocks of wood and it was ok.

Q:What are the dimentions of it?

A:

Dimensions are listed on the product page: Product Dimensions: 44 x 1 x 31 inches. There are two extensions, a smaller and a larger, that can be used separately or together with the main gate, to bring it out to a length of 44 inches total.

Q:Will this fit properly to a door that is 44″ wide? I know the measurements say up to 44″ but my door opening is 43 3/4 inches wide.

A:

yes, should fit

Q:pressure mounted?

A:

Yes, but for top of stairs it users screws

Q:I have a 45-46 inch opening, would this work?

A:

This is a quote from the description. “This portable gate includes two extensions, giving you the option of covering openings in your house ranging from 29 to 44 inches.” So my answer would be no it won’t fit. Since the maximum width is 44″ you could easily add a 1/2″ strip of wood or blocks to each end which would give you an additional 1″ of width and keep the gap at the ends even. If you need more just increase the thickness of the strip of wood or blocks to 1″. That would give you an additional width 2″. It may work without any blocks because the…

Q:Does this gate come with wider widths?

A:

This is the widest width option for this gate.

Q:Can the width be extended further with additional parts? I have on of these and it works great, but I need a 2nd gate to span about a 61″ area. ideas?

Yes, with no problems

A:

I don’t think it is strong enough for a determined, high energy Border Collie, depending on the width you are going to use. It isn’t that high, either.

Q:Would a Shiba Inu be able to fit through the pet door?

A:

Yes absolutely!

Q:How tall is this gate?

A:

30″

Q:Using all extensions, it covers 44″ but my opening is 56″ can I just add-on another 12″ extension? Meaning 2 extensions on 1 side?

A:

I saw pics with several extensions. I didn’t have to use any extensions. It looks like you can use the extensions on any side you need to. Both on one side or on both sides. Good Luck.

Q:how wide is the basic gate without the extensions?

A:

How tall is it

Q:I got 29,5 wide. Does it fit well?

A:

It fits great in a standard doorway

Q:Can a cat open the pet flap themselves or does it have to stay propped open for the cat to get through?

A:

I have my flap propped open; I tied the door with string and secured it to one of the bars. I am not sure if a cat could open the flap.

Q:The Screws are to small. Am I missing something?

A:

I have no idea as my gate installed just fine. Maybe your packet included the wrong screws. I would just contact Amazon about this and perhaps return the gate for a replacement.

Q:can it extend to 70 inches?

A:

I guess if you bought enough extensions for it maybe, but I don’t think it would be very sturdy then.

Q:How tall is this gate?

A:

30″ high

A:

This gate is only 2ft 6in. (30in)

Q:Is this ok to use as a baby gate? I bought the mini Carlson gate and it had a warning label “NOT FOR CHILDREN”

A:

We are using it as a baby gate. Don’t know what must have happened to prompt the warning. We have the gate pictured not the mini

Q:We have a 13″, 24 lb.beagle. Wondering if she can fit thru the cat door?

A:

My Beagle is a standard that weights 25 pounds and he fit through the door no problem. He put his head down and just walked through the door. My husband rigged the door so the opening is smaller so he can stay out of the room while our cat can walk in and out.

Q:how tall is this pet gate

A:

Once mounted you can set it flat to the ground or as high up the doorway as you want. We put virtually flat to the ground, and it sits at about waist level, 3′ tall at top.

Q:can you use it on stairs

A:

I don’t see why not – it just requires having a wall on either side for the gate to expand onto. It might depend on where your wall is on juxtaposition to your first or last stair. Mine is in a doorway to block the dog from the cat pan :-p

Q:How tall is the gate?

A:

30 inches

Q:Is this gate compatible with stairway?

A:

As it says, it fits up to any 44inch span. It would depend on how wide your stairway is.

Q:I have a 4 pound Pomeranian. Will he be able to squeeze thru the gaps? I will keep the kitty door locked?

A:

The largest gap I have is 2 3/4″. Metal bars with no give.

Q:How high is the gate?

A:

how tall is this product over all

Q:Can this door be installed in a 30 1/2 inch door?

A:

Yes, without any extensions the “base” piece is only 28″ wide and can be extended by three or four inches with the twist placers.

We need to cover a 70 and an 80 inch opening.

A:

I really don’t know as I’m not using the two small extensions that came with the gate. I would suggest going into the detailed product information on the Amazon web site. Sorry!

Q:Can a three month old kitten fit through the bars?

A:

I think so. A 6 month, probably not.

Q:How do you remove the cat door?

A:

The cat door doesn’t remove but it swings open both ways and has a latch to keep it closed when not in use.

Q:How can you remove cat door?

A:

I would say yes but would take a few tools.

Q:does the door open both ways

A:

You know, I always open it on direction. I will check when I get home tonight. I think it opens one way, but you can put it up in either direction. I will let you know ASAP!!

Q:My hallway is 38″ wide with molding at the bottom. Will this gate adjust to fit?

A:

It should be fine. My hallway has molding at the bottom and is about the same width. It would be best if the molding is flat, but if you can’t make it fit on the molding you can always place it a few inches higher. That may not be the best option for you, but my dog is 70lbs so there is no chance he makes it under a 4″ space.

Q:Is this just pressure mounted or will it also screw into a wall if necessary?

A:

I’ve used that pressure mounted for the past 3 months and it’s work fantastically however it does come with mounting plates that will screw into the door frame and then you can pressure mount into that so it is kind of both

Q:Can I buy an extra extension? I’m struggling to find a gate to fit my 55.5 inch doorway.

A:

We do offer an extension for this gate but it will only extend it up to 44″ I do apologize.

Q:how tall it stand

A:

About 3′. It’s to the bottom of my hips and I’m 5’9″.

Q:what is the width of the gate plus extensions?

A:

the gate and extensions are 39″ but then you have the adjusting screws that will give you an additional 4″ on each side. hope this helps!!!

I don’t know we only use the one extension it came with. You may want to email the company that

Q:Will this fit a 35″ opening?

A:

I used this gate on a 39 inch opening and a 36 inch doorway. There is an extra panel that can be added to lengthen and the pressure mounts have some play for width as well. This is a solid door and worked really good for what I needed.

Q:what size extension(s) would I need to buy, if any, to make this fit a 54 inch archway?

A:

Even with no extension this particular gate is too big wide to fit that sized door. It comes as 70 inches with no extensions.

Q:How wide is walk through door?

A:

The opening you can walk through is 17 inches wide.

Q:Looking for a gate with a 62 inch closure to go across s Porch stairway opening?

A:

Q:what is the dimemsions of the opening

A:

The cat door opening is 7 by 10 1/2 inches.

Q:Is the door self-closing or do you have to close it manually?

A:

You have to close it manually.

Q:i would need to use both extensions. how are the extensions put together? is it fragile or sturdy?

A:

Adding the extensions to the gate is easy. You would put each extension at the end of each side of the gate by putting pressure, push them together. But for them to be more study you will need to screw the cups into the wall. I have a small dog so I just put the gate by the side of the door frame and the frame help to make it stable and secure fit. I hope this help.

Q:Will it keep an 80lb. dog from jumping over it?

A:

I would think so, but check the dimensions to be sure, as I have no idea how tall your dog is or how agile.

Q:Would like to use this gate in an opening that doesn’t have a full wall on both sides. Am not seeing how tall the gate is, only how wide it expands.

A:

It’s about 3ft tall maybe a little less. If your wall is shorter than that I don’t think it would work. One of ours is agains a wall on one side and the stair bannister on the other and there’s plenty of space left.

A:

the latch is on top, the bottom has a small door for small animals with a small latch.

Q:how tall is the gate?

A:

2.5 Feet

Q:how tall is it?

A:

30″

Q:how high is it?

A:

30 inches

Q:size

A:

Maximum width= 44 inches x 1 inches x 31 inches

Q:This product comes with two extensions to reach 44 inches. My stairway opening is 45-46 inches. Could I buy an additional extension and add it on?

A:

You really will need to contact the manufacturer to see if additional sections are sold separately. I have what looks to be a 7.5″ section left over which I’ll never use and would be happy to send to you for the price of shipping, if Amazon will let you have my e-mail address: ataplow@gmail.com

Q:My door is 48″. Will it fit or do I need to buy an extra extension?

A:

I don’t know the answer to this.

Q:Does the walk thru gate lock

A:

It locks in a way. When you lower the handle, just push it down a tiny bit harder and a little lever pops over the edge of the handle to prevent it from being lifted. It is easy to unlock….just push the little red lever back with your thumb while at the same time lifting the handle. The little red lever is on a spring action.

Q:when you open the door do I have to step over the frame?

A:

Yes, you have to step over the frame.

Q:what is the height of the gate?

A:

It’s as tall as the golden retriever in the picture & keeps my 8 month old blk. lab in. I don’t like it because she jumps on it & I have to realign it. The ends are the extensions & it’s a pain holding it level & together while adjusting the end knobs. The cat door stays closed to keep the dogs head out of it & my 2 cat’s just jump over the gate from the couch.

A:

Not to my knowledge. They have an extra wide gate with an extension.

Q:The width of my hallway is 40 1/4 wide. Will this gate fit?

A:

Since the product description states “this portable gate includes two extensions, giving you the option of covering openings in your house ranging from 29 to 44 inches”, I would assume yes.

Q:cn it be mounted left vs. right to open?

A:

I would think so, you would just flip it front to back. the gate swings open one direction, so it would just be reversed.

Q:How tall is it?

A:

About 3 feet but my cat went right over it

Q:how large a door does it cover?

A:

My door was to the Laundry room (32″) and the gate fit without using either of the two extensions included. I had also purchased an additional extention because I planned to use it in other areas of the house, but because the gate itself is too small for me to fit through, I can’t use it at all. I’m going to donate it to a local shelter for use and/or charity.

Q:Is this gate adjustable to accommodate molding at the bottom?

A:

Yes it is very adjustable and secure w or w/o the things to secure it. Great item at great price.

Q:HOW WIDE IS THIS so I know if it’ll fit my doorway & HOW HIGH is it have Standard poodles & Small toy Poodle?

A:

It’s 31″ tall and fits 29-44″ wide openings. We also bought the sold separately round wall supports that add another 3-4″ and provide better stabilization against the wall. We have two gates up and love them. Very easy to open and close door and our dog can’t knock them over (she is a goldendoodle – 1/2 standard poodle, 1/2 golden retriever.

Q:Can this be used as a baby gate? Or will a small child be able to crawl through?

A:

My 13 month old 20 pound daughter can climb through, but it slows her down and I am able to stop her. We still use it as a baby gate. She only climbs through if someone is on the other side though.

Q:small door

A:

It can be wider than in the picture but it won’t be sturdy. The side/extensions slide in & it’s a pain keeping them connected on both sides while adjusting. Next one I get will be something spring loaded. The cats jump over the gate & don’t need the door anyway.

Q:What is the gate height?

A:

Gate is 30 inches high.

Q:What is the height on gate?

A:

30 inches

Q:Can you remove the small pet door?

A:

It does not look like it is meant to be removed. It could be removed but may not easily be replaced.

Q:how tall is it?

A:

31 inches

Q:I purchased a 6 inch extention, but would like to have another 10 inch extention. Do these extentions work together?

A:

If you have the original gate then you can add the extensions, but I am not sure how many.

Q:What size doorways will this fit? My halls are narrow, 28 1/2 inches and 32 1/2 inches?

A:

This one is wider than your specs. However, I know Carlson makes other gates that are narrower.

Q:What is the height?

A:

These gates are 30″ high. You can even raise them up a bit in the door frame if necessary, since they are firmly set in the doorway once you adjust the tension wheels on either side, top and bottom.

I have to tell you that I absolutely love these gates. I have three of them and wouldn’t hesitate to order another one if I had a need.

Q:How tall is the gate? we need it to keep our kittens/cats out of a certain room.

A:

The Gate is 44 x 1 x 31 inches. It has 2 extensions to expand to 44 inches and is 31 inches tall.

Q:My door opening is 24 inches. Will it fit that size doorway?

A:

I think the gate is too wide. There is a smaller version. I returned the gates (one extra wide and one more narrow) I had purchased because I knew I would be tripping over the bar that extends against the floor. But that’s just me. The gate is fine for someone more graceful!

Q:Can this be installed at the top of the stairs?

A:

Maybe for a small animal, not a large one, definitely NOT for a baby or child. But there is no physical reason that it couldn’t be installed there, just safety issues.

Q:can this gate be used outdoors or will it rust? …is there a product that you could spray on to prevent rust or chipping from UV pr moisture?

A:

This gate is designed for indoor use only.

Many Thanks for your help

A:

This product is unable to ship internationally at this time.

Q:Dear, May I know that if my door size is 28inch, can it fit? Thanks

A:

Yes it will fit if you dont use the extension parts, I measured it fast, if for some reason it does not fit you can always send it back, hope that helps dear =)

Q:Will this gate work for small dogs (8 – 10 lbs.)?

A:

An 8-10 lb. dog would likely be able to go through the small cat door. So if you want to keep the dog out, I’d try something different.

Q:Doorway is exactly 28″…anyway to fit this gate in this opening?

A:

The gate, including the side braces inserted as far as they will go, measures a bit wider than 28″. My advice would be to contact carlsonpetproducts.com/contact and ask their advice.

Q:what is the widest you can get this gate? i have a hallway that is 90 inches across and would like to block off half of it. thank you.

A:

Mine has been installed in a standard interior doorway – 32 inches. However, even with the extensions I do not think the gate would extend to 45 inches. The product information says that it will extend to 44 inches.

Q:height and width

A:

30″ high, mine is installed in a 30″ door opening, without needing to use the extenders.

Q:Not sure How big my mutt is going to get. What’s the weight limit for heavy dogs jumping and leaning against it?

A:

That I do not know. My gate is at the top of the stairs so it is not leaned on or jumped upon by the dogs (who both weigh 47lbs). You might try contacting the manufacturer directly with this question. Good luck!

Q:What is the range on door width this gate fits?

A:

Up to 44 inches..

Q:Will this work well for a 36 inch opening?

A:

Yes. Perfect. That’s exactly the size I needed. You won’t need the extension part that comes with it though.

Q:rabbit

A:

It works with 2 large cats, should work with a rabbit.

It won’t stay open and my dog can’t figure out how to push it open

A:

The pet door is not meant to be removed. But, on mine, a hacksaw blade could be passed between the frame pieces, to cut the hinge pin, which is about 1/4 inch. This will make the opening about 1/2 inch wider.

Q:how wide?

A:

“Includes 2 extensions to expand gate to 44 inches”

Q:children

A:

Did fine keeping my grandson out of the hallway, but my mini Chorkie was another issue. Had to adjust it several times to keep her from getting through, since she’s so tiny. My children are worse than toddlers.

Q:i have a 42 in opening. what is the size of the extensions

A:

my opening is 43 inches and it is a great fit. easy to adjust.

Q:Is this gate safe for the top of stairs?

A:

Mine is in the center of the door leading to the kitchen, so I have no experience. But it comes with special brackets to secure it at the top or bottom of stairs so I believe it would work there. I do know it’s the sturdiest pet &/or child door I’ve ever owned. My dog learned to lean on my last one to eventually knock it down and after a month or so of having this one he no longer bothers because it never shifts even a little.

Q:Has anyone used this gate at the top of stairs & did it work there just as well as a normal doorway? I have two wooden poles at the top of my stairs.

A:

We used it at the top of the stairs and it worked well. One third of the gate stays in place and the other two thirds opens when it’s across our stairs. Our stairs have solid half walls either side at the top but the bottom has poles and it worked there too.

Q:Can I use this on a 24″ wide opening?

A:

No, the gate can be used in openings from 29-44 Inches.

Q:Can I use this on a 24″ wide opening?

A:

No, the gate can be used in openings from 29-44 Inches.

Q:Will it fit a 32″ opening and still be secured? It was to be able to withstand a big dog nudging the gate with hi head, trying to get to cat food

A:

My door is 30″ and I do believe it would still be tight on a 32″ door. This model also comes with two extensions to fit a wider door, one extension for each side so that the built-in door is still centered. I didn’t need them but have them set aside should I want to install it in my wider hallway entrance. As for strength, my smaller dog likes to lean on the gate and it never budges one bit. It’s solid. When you install it, you tighten the screws on the knobs that butt up against the door frame and it’s immovable unless you unscrew it again.
30 inches

A:

It will stay open on it’s own.

Q:What are the measurements on the wide gate?

A:

That center panel is 27 inches wide. The side panels (you can choose to use one, both or neither) are 5″ each. The one that was sent to me has a problem with the latch…the latch opens and closes just fine, however, it does not even touch the rail that it needs to lock onto…so the door just swings uselessly.

Q:how wide is it?

A:

29 inches, we added the 24 inch extension for a 53 inch wide hallway. It works but not as sturdy as I would have liked. I use it for dogs, not kids.

Q:this will work to stop a normal size (short and skinny) yorkshire? thanks to all for your answers.

A:

The opening of the small door on the gate is 11h x 7w , a little narrower than a piece of paper. I have a very large 25lb cat that fits through it w room. Its not a great gate for the top of a staircase / landing but really solid for a doorway. Small door doesn’t get in the way when opening for you to pass. The actual swinging gate opening can be a bit narrow for a larger adult. Hope this helps

Q:Can the flat pressure mounts be removed to install the Y-shaped mounts for spindles?

A:

the ends do come off..if thats what you mean.. can be extended also

Q:can I get replacement parts?

A:

Hey there…I looked into that too before I bought it. The answer is yes. Amazon sells them as well as the manufacturer website.

Q:I have an opening of 92″, will the gate accomodate multiple extensions?

A:

it doesnt look like it will. ours is in a standard doorway and our dog a pushed against it and you can see it bowed a little. its just a weak pt not meant to downgrade product. we are pleased with it.

Q:My doorway is 58 inches wide. What extensions do I need? Do I add to the ones that come with this gate ro do I have to replace them with wider ones?

A:

My gate fits a 32-inch doorway, though I could add a couple of inches to that by extending the screws. Additionally, the 2 extension pieces that come with the kit could extend the gate by roughly 10 inches more. That adds up roughly (this is not exact) to a total of maybe 44 inches by my reckoning–not even close to the 58 inches you’re trying to fill. Therefore I would look at a wider gate to purchase.

Q:My door opening is 46 inches. Will the gate fit with two 6 six inch extensions or one 12 inch extension? Which would be better?

A:

Although I did not need to use the extensions I think you are better off using the 2 6″ extensions. It will give you more flexibility in centering the gate on the doorway.

Q:What are the dimensions of the cat door?

A:

My doorway opening is 46″ my main question is the gate says it extends to 44″ but is that including the screws fully extended or not??

A:

I would also like to know – my doorway is also 46 and we have two dogs, 70 lb and 20 lb, the big one likes to jump and lean on the gate with a good jump and brute force, will the gate still snuggly fit into the doorway or is it not going to fit at all due to being 2 inches two small? Also what extension should I get, 4 or 6 size? I don’t want to purchase something that will be too small or too big to fit in the doorway and deal with the hassle of returning it.

Q:I have a 63″ opening, can I buy an extra extensions?

A:

I am pretty sure that you can buy extra extensions. They sell them on Amazon.

Q:what is the width

A:

Standard size crib mattress.

Q:Is there a way to set up the gate so the door swings both ways?

A:

no, just one way. the dog gate swings both ways but the big one dont

Q:can i get it to fit a 48″ opening

A:

No. Mine only extends to 44″. Carlson has an Extra TALL gate that would work at that width (48″).

Q:Is there a spindle add on to use with stairs? I can’t seem to find any that work with one side being a wall…the other a spindle.

A:

There is nothing included in terms of adapters or attachments for a spindle. You’d have to figure out a way to rig it up on your own.

Q:Will this fit a 45″ inch opening (slightly smaller at the bottom due to moulding)?

A:

According to the specs it goes up to 44inches so you are about an inch over, my opening is 43 inches. The only thing I can think of you can do is to nail 1-2″ blocks where you want the tension mounts. It won’t be sightly but perhaps you can paint it white to match the gate or paint it to match the opening.

Q:What size extension would I need to fit a 54″ opening?

A:

We purchased two gates one for a standard size opening and another for a wide opening off the foyer. For that wider opening we used the extensions in the one kit plus one of the the extensions from the other kit. I know this is not a “technical” answer but it’s how I made it work.

Q:How tall is this gate?

A:

Unfortunately, I don’t know. I had to send mine back, as my kittens could walk through the slats.

Q:I would like to use the small door to allow my cats to pass, but keep my Westhighland Terrier out. Will a 20lb dog fit through the small door?

A:

Unfortunately, the answer is probably. My 4 month old German Shepherd pup at 25lbs can still crawl through it. His legs are long so he has to crawl, but he still fits through, following right behind the cats. As my German Shepherd grows, he will no longer fit, but since your dog is a Westie, it is full grown at 20lbs.

A:

No. One way only. I have 2 of these and they are very effective and do not harm the woodwork in the doorway. Easy to move to a different area. What I like is they keep the dogs confined but the little door allows the cat to get in or out of the room.

Q:How wide is the gate opening?

A:

Mine is just under 16 inches.

Q:Will a dog fit through the cat door? I’m thinking of purchasing this gate and am wondering, will my dog be able to fit through the cat door?

A:

My 32 pound dog fits through the cat door (I saw her sneak through a couple of times), as does my 20 lb. cat, but normally she stays on the other side. So, yeah, it’s not 100% effective in keeping a small dog out, but it does work as a deterrent.

Q:Does the small pet door have a locking mechanism as well?

A:

Yes, it will lock closed. We removed it, because we only wanted to block the big dog, & I didn’t like having it stand open, but it does lock. It is working great for us. The little dogs can nibble their food, & the big dog can’t gobble it up, while they are taking their sweet time.

Q:Would this work as a baby gate? It will be used in a doorway (not the top of stairs). Want to make sure it was sturdy enough/baby can’t fit through.

A:

i actually used them as baby gates. I have side-by-side stairs with one going down and the other up. I put one of these gates at both cases and didnt seem to have much of an issue. By the time she figured out she could fit through the pet door, she was too big to fit. But it is possible so I would lock the little doors (they have a closing latch feature) that she couldnt figure out when we played in that area. The gate not only has a tension mount option but also comes with hardware to safely mount to the wall. I hope this helps! It was the only one I could find that was reasonable and…

Q:Small Dogs… Does anyone on here know what the spacing is between the bars?

A:

glad I checked here! The only thing I want to secure with a gate is our Chihuahua. I’m so tired of trying to step over the giant gate we have now, or take it up and down all the thime. Why does this have such huge space between the bars?

Q:how far apart are the slats?

A:

About 2 1/2 to three inches. The outer slats slightly farther apart than the ones on the actual gate part.

I have been really happy with ours thus far.

Q:how far apart are the bars?

A:

Varies. The bars on the main gate are 2 1/4″ apart. On the extensions they are 3″ apart. Cheers!

Q:What are the basic dimensions?

A:

30×44

Q:Our opening is between 42-43 inches wide. Will this Carlson 0930PW Extra-wide gate work? If not, what size extension(s) do we need?

Look at product specs online and this will answer your question.

A:

It can be mounted to open either left or right

My daughter is 31 pounds and 35 inches tall at 18 months. We bought three of them to fence off most of a room so she could practice walking safely. We’ve had this for nine months now and absolutely love it.

We found that the way to use it best was to make sure that the gates are angled and, preferably, have some backup support, like a wall or what have you. We have not tried it on a smooth surfaced floor, like tile, but I would not recommend it. Carpet would provide more friction and prevent slippage. Her fence is big enough that we have it wedged against the wall, an anchored bookcase and my very large office desk. Doesn’t sound safe, but it is, and it was a fantastic area to use to set up toy stations (so she’d be encouraged to walk from place to place) and we had enough room for both a Fisher Price Laugh n’ Learn house and farm (which she used as handholds to cruise.)

If you set the gate up incorrectly, the answer would be a semi-yes. It won’t fall over entirely, but if you get a long section, you DO have to angle it or it will lean over. If you look at the pic, though, you can tell it’s not designed to be a straight fence, anyway. (And we have about an eight foot straightaway, MUCH bigger than a single playyard.). If you set it up to be stable, the answer is no. And, even mine can’t ride it all the way over; it just angles back. There’s been some comments about kids climbing it, but I assure you, once your child starts weighing a little more, they’re not going to want to. The openings are very sturdy, but the edges would be very uncomfortable to put any amount of weight upon.

I would definitely recommend it. In fact, I’m getting ready to order one and two extension panels to set up at my father’s for when we go to visit (we have to fly and can’t take ours.) His house is absolutely un-kid-friendly and really can’t be made so – my stepmother collects a -lot- of antiques, they have a fireplace, etc. They’re going to keep it there for us to use when we visit again. Sure beats having to lug along a playpen.

By the way, this is also a great alternative for us because she’s technically outgrown her regular playpen — and most other kids her age haven’t. She’s in the 99th percentile for height and 96th for weight. She still needs *someplace* that’s not her crib that she can play safely and this fits the bill very well. We put a play mat in the corner for her to lie down on when she’s tired. It has the added bonus of keeping all her toys in one area, too. We have a big Rubbermaid container so she can practice taking her toys out and putting them back, too.

HTH.

Q:Any suggestions on how to keep Baby from climbing out? We’ve tried everything. Would weaving a strong fabric through the holes help?

A:

I believe the infant surround comes in two heights, I’m assuming you have the shorter one. also I suspect your baby is using his toes in the holes to help him or her to climb up. the most simple fix I can think of would be to put baby’s sneakers or shoes on and double knot the laces. I don’t think the holes in the surround are large enough to get those little baby shoes into them. Give that a try. good luck.

Q:We’d like to put it together in the morning and put it away at night, how easy, flexible and easy would it be to do this everyday?

A:

It can be done. It’s heavy, and bulky. But it definitely can be done.. I found it easier to just leave it in an area unless I had a reason to take it down.

Q:Can I use this to surround a toddler bed to keep my son from getting away too quickly. He can crawl out of his crib but is only 16months.

A:

It may work…. each panel is 30 inches high and 30 inches wide, and if you would get enough panels to go all the way around so you could hook it closed… I think it would be sturdy enough if it surrounded the toddler bed and was hooked….. I know if you just stand it somewhere and it blocked a way( it is not hooked) so the children can not get out… if they lean against, it will push down….But I know if I have it hooked they have not been able to do this…. I hope this helps… Dianne

Q:Has anyone use this for small puppy/ dog playpen?

A:

That is the reason I purchased the playpen and it works wondefully. Because of its segmented design I have fit it into some strange places. I keep it as a rectangle behind the couch and it is perfect. Once when company was coming over I removed a segment and made a triangle to fit in my bedroom by the bed. a great idea for puppies and small dogs. They seem to like it to as the go in by themselves when the gate is open,

Q:Sturdy enough for an adult labrador dog? I am wondering if this 60 lb. dog will be able to move the play yard around the room?

A:

I think your lab will absolutely able to push this around on a ceramic floor, and the puppies too. I have an 80 lb lab and she is very strong. This is a very lightweight gate that will likely do very little to contain your dogs. I own a similar gate but only use it to keep my kids & dog from the grill on my deck. For something heavier & sturdier, I would consider one of the metal gates on the market. I own the http://www.amazon.com/KidCo-KID-G80-Configure-Gate/dp/B000056HMX/ref=sr_1_1?s=baby-products&ie=UTF8&qid=1313246433&sr=1-1 but there’s also the…
These are unfortunately much more expensive, but more heavy duty than the light plastic ones. I love the configure gate because I can arrange it any way. I use it in a straight line across a large opening between my family room & kitchen, but also at Christmas around the tree to keep my enthusiastic lab from eating or yanking down our tree. I hope any of this helps. They also make metal & wooden pet gates that might better serve your purposes. I hope this helps. Best of luck with the dogs!

Q:Can the panels come apart so I could potentially use 3 to block off the fireplace and 3 to block off something else?

A:

Yes, they all detacth from each other. It isn’t the easiest thing to do (ie it’s not like a gate), but it’s not that difficult either. We’ve considered getting two sets & putting them together in the event we have a bigger batch of turkies this comming year.

Q:Can two of these be connected and if so how?

A:

Yes. They’re made to connect. I’ve got 2 sets connected at my house and am going to buy a third set for even more room for play.

Q:Is the 6 or 8 panel sturdier? Or are they about the same?

A:

I have the 6 panel and it it pretty sturdy. They all will move a little because they aren’t tied down to anything. My 11-3/4 month old granddaughter tries to climb up the side and it holds pretty steady. The other grandmother has the 8 panel and seems to be as steady. They will move just slightly. I feel it is safe. As always you have to check regularly. I am very pleased.

Q:Will this fit around my Christmas tree… I need 18 feet to fit around it.

A:

I think that it would work for you, but ere is also a possibility to buy two extra panels if you need it to be even longer. I know ours fits around our tree.

A:

It would not serve as a wall. The sections are made to connect together in a hinged fashion which do not lock straight.

Q:What is the size of the small openings that cover the side panels? Would small kittens be able to get out?

A:

I don’t have a measurement but I’d say way too small for a kitten to get through. Maybe 1″/1.5″ as a rough guess

Q:Can I open it all the way up to block a larger area opening? or does it need to stay in a round or rectangle shape?

A:

Yes you can but it won’t stand on it’s own. Adding feet as an accessory would be a good idea for the company.

Q:Hi-I can’t get the door/gate to “swivel.” Essentially, the entire side the door is attached to has to straighten for the door to work. Anyone else?

A:

Check the knobs between each section. If they are too tight or unscrewed too far it will lock the gate. Tighten the knobs to stabilize the play yard.

Q:How wide are the slots between the panels?

A:

At the top and bottom of the panels the gap (near the hinges) the gap is 2 3/8 inches wide. Elsewhere the gap between the panels is 1 inch.

Q:how tall is it?

A:

Each section is 31 inches tall.

Q:Can this be stretched out to cover hearth or entertainment center

A:

Right now I am using it to keep the pooches out of the living room which has a large archway linking it to the rest of the house. It is pretty sturdy and effective.

Q:Is there rubber or anything on the bottom to keep it from slipping on a hard floor? I know the North States brand one does.

A:

I don’t think it has rubber bottoms. I have mine on hard wood but bought a 5×3 rug to go under it that sees to keep in in place and the toy box that is inside. I’m sure he could push it if he wanted to. My baby can climb it though if he really wants to. Gets his little toes in the holes and up he goes.

Q:What type of plastic is this play yard made of? I’m looking specifically for what plastic code is stamped on the gate itself, if there is one.

A:

I don’t believe they have the plastic code stamped on any of the plastic panels. I searched high and low, front and back and the only thing they have stamped is the month and year code of when it was made.

Q:Answer is probably no, but I was wondering if it fits/connects to the North States gate that is similar.

A:

Not that I can tell, I assumed I could connect it to similar brands when I purchased it but I couldn’t figure out how.

A:

Hi Teresa, I haven’t used it for a dog, but hear me out. We have this set up in our kitchen with hardwood floors, and our 15 month old can push the entire pen around the room. She puts her hands up on the side and just starts walking and the pen goes with her. Idk if your pup is rambunctious or not, but if so I wouldn’t choose this one.

Q:What color are the panels? Gray or ivory?

A:

Mine are stained red from years of toddler grudge matches. I don’t remember what the original color was.

Q:I have one and the latch has broken. I can’t seem to find a replacement part or replacement panel. Any tips?

A:

I don’t know honestly. Have you tried contacting Summer?

Q:Can it be separated into 2 sets of 3?

A:

Each section can be detached. That makes it possible to configure it many ways. 2 sets of 3 would be possible although it would make a very small area, so not sure what could be “fenced” by it. There is only one gate section. Additional sections can be ordered through the manufacturer.

Q:How do you take apart the panels

A:

To open regularly, there is a door with a lever. You squeeze the 2 buttons, lift lever, and then open the door. To remove the panels not attached to the door panel, you loosen the know at the top of that panel’s hinge, flex the panel to pull the hinge apart, and then lift the whole panel off the bottom hinge.

Q:What is the overall height of this containment fence and allso what material is it made of?

A:

The gate sections are just under 36 inches tall, perfect for an early toddler and the material is a rigid plastic. There are no sharp edges though and my grandson had a great time in his. Hope that helps your decision.

Q:If it were opened up and not in a circle – how long is it? I have an opening that is 106 inches I want to block sometimes. Thanks!

A:

It would be more than long enough, you’ll probably have to take 1 panel off..

Q:Why does it take 1 to 3 months to ship this item?

A:

We can ship immediately, sounds like a listing mistake.

Q:Do the hinges bend both ways?

A:

No they only fold out straight in a line or will fold the other direction completely parallel to the next one. Hope that helps

Q:Would this work as a play area for a guinea pig?

A:

If you want it to have plenty of room to run around, then yes. There is no way a guinea pig could escape from one of these.

A:

Yes you can we have and it works great

Q:I need to know if you can use 2 or 3 panels together to block off an area of a room, or does it require that all pieces be interlocked to work? I keep toddlers and want to use 3 sections together in a straight line to use to keep kids in one room…

A:

You can use as many or as few panel’s as you need for any particular job.

Q:How can I remove a panel or two. I have tried to twist the top caps, but can not get the cap to remove. Is it possible to remove or will it break it?

A:

It is possible to remove the panels. I took two of them off making my 8 panel unit 6 panels. The instructions are very good. Do you have them. If not, go to the manufacturers website and see if the instructions are available there. Basically, this is what you do: Loosen adjustment knobs on the panels to remove. Step 1: Place hand next to loosened adjustment knob. Apply downward pressure and flex panel to disengage top hinge. Pull up to disengage bottom hinge. Repeat to remove other panel. Step 2: Connect panels by following same technique in Step 1. Step 3. Tighten all adjustment knobs….

Q:what size are the panels ?

A:

35.1 x 31.6 x 2.5 inches for each panel

Q:I need the measurement (length) for each panel. having read all of the answered questions….still not sure…?

A:

Each panel is 30 inches and there is a 2 inch bolt between each panel.

Q:is it free standing on carpet? i want to use this as barrier gate next to the tv stand , does this product serve its purpose? fall off when pushed?

A:

this product works for what I bought it for !!! outside in yard for a 14 week old Boston terrier puppy!!!

Q:Can this be used on carpet?

A:

I know of no reason not to.

Q:Can this be used on carpet?

A:

Yes, it will work well. BEWARE of the screw/lock/bolt/nuts they do not work well, not like they say they will. I had to remove them for the thing to fold up and take and go.

Q:I have just got two Australian Sheppardpuppy’s that I need a play yard for. would this work for puppys? We live on range and they are not ready to herd yet but it gets cold staying outside watching them, since they love it! I would rather watch from…

A:

I don’t know how old your puppies are, but this would not work for long. I, too, have an Aussie, and he could clear this pen if he wanted to. Also, if they nosed under it, it could easily be lifted up. You would be better off buying an X-pen for dogs.

Q:Can a kitten climb out of this enclosure?

A:

Possibly. It does have holes it could hook its claws through and climb.

I’m trying to find something to section off our entertainment center.

A:

It would probably be pretty easy. And it would be quick to tie down if need be

Q:What are the dimensions of each panel? I see that they are 30″ high but I can’t figure out how wide.

A:

The description states 32 inch wide

Q:Can you take the sections apart and just use 2 or three of theml?

A:

Yes, but it would be a triangle and awkward. You can use 4 sections for a very small area, but is is really pretty small and may be suitable for you. I use 6 sections (5 plus gate). Hope this answers your question.

Q:Does this version connect to the older model that I bought less than 1 year ago?

A:

I think that they do

Q:How do you put together?

A:

came already assembled…all you have to do is open it up like an accordion. Very very easy.

Q:What are the dimensions of the play area?

A:

I didn’t actually measure it, but I’d guestimate the hexagon it forms is about 4-5 feet across. My 2 y/o niece and 4 y/o nephew can plan it it happily when they don’t want the dogs licking their faces or swiping their snacks. I know that sounds backwards- having the kids in the pen, but they don’t yap because they want out and they can open the gate whenever they want to come or go. Plus, with a blanket over it, it makes an awesome tent in the jungle, where they’re surrounded by huge (13 pounds), ferocious, wild animals. lol

Q:will it work to go across the garage door space 16′?

A:

Hi Janae, it will come up about 1 foot short, but if you add the extension it would work. I believe you can make it a 6 or 8 segment gate. I bought the 6 segment.

Q:Is it sturdy when not in a circle? sectioning off corner, 1 side gate the other wall, is it easily pushed over by baby?

A:

It’s not very study, atleast structurally when it’s not in a circle. While you can brace it against something, ultimately it’s much easier to push (my 18 month old was pushing it when he started to walk at ~13months) Best bet if your going to get it is to understand that limitation

Q:Need something to keep a toddler away from the fireplace insert! Would this be sturdy enough to keep a toddler away from the fireplace?

A:

It would work IF you securely fasten the top and bottom of each end to the wall. It’s very lightweight, so if it’s freestanding the little one will have it over in no time. My 13 pound Pom can easily shove it with his nose if it’s not fastened, so the baby would have no difficulty moving it.

Q:can you attach two 6 panels together? I want to square off a piece of my yard just for the baby stuff, but the one 6 panel isn’t big enough, so I was wondering if I bought two can I attach them all together?

A:

I think you could, it’s a very flexible piece of equipment. It is lightweight, though, so I wouldn’t trust it to hold the baby if I wasn’t outside with her, especially if she’s a toddler.

I have already done the math to figure out it will fit.

A:

One could use it stretched out straight. However, you would need to physically attach with some hardware of some type to the wall. It may be less sturdy in the center of the span if unsupported. If semi permanent, zip ties and a couple of 2x2s for top and bottom like a rail may allow to be sturdier an allow attachment to walls on either side. The material and joints are strong. Hope that helps.

Q:Why was this cluttering up a search for door mats?

A:

The same reason that a book search for “Gone with the Wind” is apt to reveal a biography of Benjamin Franklin- because Amazon refuses to tighten up its search engine. Their excuse to me was that a customer might not know the exact spelling of the product, but we all know it’s so you might see something else you like and make an impulse purchase … Unless, of course, they’re right and you thought “door mats” was spelt “P-L-A-Y-P-E-N”.

Q:Can this be bent in to a rectangular shape??

A:

yes, takes up less space that way, too.

Q:can this be used on carpet? if so how? do i need to use those suction cups

A:

Yes, it can be used on carpet. That’s how we use it, but I’m anxious for the weather to change so we can take it outdoors. No suction cups are needed for indoor use.

Out of the box it fits 28.2 to 46.8 inches, there are small extensions that make it stretch to 46.8″. If you need longer there is a 5 bar extension that extends to 60″ total.

Q:Is this gate adjustable up to 48 inches width or is it necessary to order extension as extra? I have a 41 inch opening I want to gate

A:

The description says: Fits opening 28″ x 46.8″Wide, 36″ High….I have an opening of about 49″ width and it worked well because the side (secure) attachments add a little more length to the 46.8″ width mentioned after you have adjusted and secured the gate, so you’ll be fine w/ out the extension.

I don’t see the adjusting screws at the ends. Thanks.
A:

No, you screw it into the wall on the end pieces, top and bottom, both sides. I haven’t had any trouble with the screws coming loose from the wall.

Q:How would I mount this gate in a hallway opening with baseboards at the bottom and straight to wall at the top?
A:

With baseboards, you just use the bracket as a guide, trace around the bracket with a pencil onto the baseboard and cut a notch out of the baseboard so that the bracket sits flush against the wall. This ended up being pretty easy to do.

Q:Is this an indoor/outdoor gate or just to be used indoors?
A:

I am not sure what it was intended for but we are using it outside and so far it is holding up really well. We live in WA so it is fairly rainy at times. I actually want to buy another for the other side of the deck because this one works so well.

Q:How difficult is it to open? Ideally, I want to allow my 8-yr-old to open it but keep a puppy behind it.
A:

I think an 8 year old would be able to open it. There is a button on top that you press while you lift and open the gate. My five year old doesn’t have the strength yet to press the button, but she understands the concept. You won’t have to worry about your pet figuring it out.

Q:What is the length of each peice of the gate?
A:

The sides are approx. 16″ and the main segment is approx. 36″

Q:Do you have extentions for this gate? I have an 82 inch opening.
A:

No, it’s not designed to have extensions. It has hanges that allw it to be configured to fit openings less than the maximum described, if that makes sense. It can’t be made longer, however, to fit a wider opening than the maximum described.

Q:Do the hinges adjust a full 90 degrees? In the photos it only shows the gate at a slight angle, I literally need this gate to adjust to an “L” shape. Thanks
A:

yes, I have my gate at a 90 degree angle. only thing is that you might want to anchor the gate into the floor with this angle, as it will make it not as steady with this angle.

Q:can you buy extensions for this…I need for up to 118 inches
A:

Nancy, if you haven’t already, check out the wider version of this.. the North States Superyard 3 in 1.. its 144″ and you can remove panels to be closer to 118″.. we just got it.. its fantastic.

Q:I have a 68″ opening, will this gate fit straight across without bowing?
A:

I currently have this gate in a 60″ door way , And have been very happy with it. it curves out a bit because of its adjustable hinges. The hinges on either side of the gate opening, allows you to loosen and tighten, for bending the gate whichever way you need it to go. Since the gate is 71″ wide it will bend out or in on a 68″ doorway. Won’t be exactly straight. But it is made for this. I hope this makes sense..

Q:How many inches is it between the slats? I need it for my dog which is a 5lb yorkie. Thank you
A:

It is about 2″ so should be perfect don’t see any breaking out unless you leave the gate open.

Q:At the bottom of my staircase I have banisters on each side of stairs. Would it work to zip tie each side to the banister?
A:
No, it would not. You need a solid surface to anchor this gate. It is not a portable gate to move to different locations.

Q:Is it possible to install such that the opening isn’t in the center of the width of the gate? I have a porch with stairs on one side, not centered.
A:
Actually no. There are joints on either side of the door that allows you to arc the whole system but not move the door.

Q:If the gate is installed in a 60″ opening does it have to bow out in order to fit across the opening?
A:
Yes, it has to bow. There is no way to shorten it other than to have it bent at the joints. If the area around where you are going to use it is tight I suggest looking into a different gate.

Q:Can I install the mounting brackets about 4″ off the floor to avoid the base boards?
A:
You could do that. We chose not to mount it above the base boards so our daughter wouldn’t be able to try to get under the gate. We mounted it to the base boards but had to add a small piece of molding to the wall for the top brackets since we mounted to the base boards.

Q:Would love to hear opinions on using this gate for a 60 1/2″ opening to keep a Rottweiler from the windows in the front of our house???
A:
I LOVE this gate. Granted, our dog is only 8 pounds but this is a very nice looking gate, it is very sturdy and screws into a wall or doorway so it looks like part of your home instead of a temporary solution. It does keep my 2 year old grandson out of our dogs area very well. If closed properly, it cannot be opened by a pet or child. It takes one strong hand or 2 hands to open it. I have been very pleased with it.

Q:how do you get this gate OPENED? we had one day where it was pretty easy to open the door area with pressing on the button- now we can’t at ALL! HELP!
A:
While it is a bit tricky, the key to it is that you have to not only press the button, but LIFT it up. Let me know…its a great gate, I love it

Q:I have a 72″ opening- I want a gate to go straight across not zigzag- will this work ? Thanks.
A:
yes it will but honestly having it go straight I find that it is not as strong and moves quite a lot . It works much better with the sides bent for stability.

Q:can this gate be installed straight across with no curve?
A:
Yes it can be installed straight across.. It has adjustable bars to hold it in any position including straight.

Q:What is the color of this gate.Is it Brown or Expresso
A:
Hi there. It is a deep Bronze color, so dark brown, almost black is what you’d call it. I was worried at first, because all of my previous gates were white, but it looks quite nice. Beware that depending on the opening, it will actually bow out like a Bay window does. That’s what happened to my space. There’s no way to make it any smaller from the size it is. I actually like the way it looks, though, and where we have it, it doesn’t get in the way of anything.

Q:How wide is the opening to walk through the gate??
A:
The opening to walk through is about 24″

Q:Is it possible to adjust the lower width narrower than the top to accommodate for my baseboards?
A:
No you cant. we drilled through our baseboards, we have wood putty on hand for when we decide to take it down to fill in the holes. my boyfriend made 1/4 inch thick pieces to fit on the top brackets to drill them to the wall so it would all be flush. works great. It only took him less than 10 minutes to make the pieces, and since they are sanded down they are the same shape as the brackets, so it all looks nice as well.

Q:Exactly how long is this gate? The descriptions says 71″, but one of the answers mentioned 9 ft?
A:
71″ is correct. It folds at an angle t two points so it can cover a smaller space. I am spanning 56″

Q:Would this gate work to block off a fireplace? Are the wall mounting points adjustable, or do the sides need to come out at a particular angle?
A:
Yes, you could use this block off a fireplace. The mounting points are not really that adjustable. A mounting template comes with gate and those are pretty much set. However, the sides are adjustable to an angle on either side. So, you can leave it straight if you want to, you could have one side an angle and the other straight or you could set it up so both sides are at angle. There are number of possible configurations

Q:Is this a good gate for a small dog, such as a yorkie?
A:
My 10 and 12 pound cats couldn’t slip through it. (They could jump it, but I don’t think a Yorkie could)

Q:How much angle can the side panels be installed out, meaning: can the gate be positioned around a bottom step?
A:
The gate has brackets that have to be fastened into the wall. So as long as there is a flat surface for the brackets to mount to it should work at the bottom of a stairs. The side panels pivot where they are attached to the actual gate. So it depends on the width of your stair opening that will determine how much room you will have between the bottom stair tread and the gate. I hope that makes sense?

Q:With being able to adjust the hinges at different angles, can I mount hardware on walls facing the same direction (west) and attach gate north/south?
A:
Hinges fully rotate-should not be a problem. Very pleased with our purchase.

Q:What are the dimensions of the packaging?
A:
Aprox 27x32x6 Gate is in 3 main pieces.

Q:will this gate be able to form a 90 degree or two 45 degree angles to go around a pellet stove?
A:
Yes you can angle it with 90 degree angles in a U shape as long as you secure it with the included screws. If you leave it unattached though it won’t stand on its own very safely. It will be a little top heavy. Also, there are some plastic parts to it in the joints and the latch so I don’t know how well it would withstand the heat of a pellet stove.

Q:I have a dog that likes to chew on any gate we put up. Are the plastic connectors hard enough to withstand chewing?
A:
I have 2 teething retriever pups myself and they have gotten to them a few times when not being watched. They seem to be holding up pretty well so far. They are made of pretty dense plastic and have only sustained superficial damage (scratches and a deep gouge or 2). The gate itself is sturdy and solid metal, lightweight but durable. So far its holding up well. Hope this has helped.

Q:I have a brick wall that this will need to mount to. Will this be a problem?
A:
It will need to be screwed in to the wall. I know it is not as simple, but is doable.

Q:Can I use a 2-by-4 to add an inch or so? My opening is exactly 72″ and from the sound of it, I’ll need the slight adjustment….
A:
Yes you can; I used a 1 by 2 on each side and it works perfect.

Q:Are the hinges made of metal or plastic? What kind of warranty does it have?
A:
Plastic hinges, black and they look very nice. No idea on warranty

Q:Will it fit an opening that is only 45 inches wide?
A:
yes
it will be a bit like a bay window – the gate part being slightly forward

Q:does this gate have an accressory that can attach it to stair spindles?
A:
There was not a specific accessory to do that.

Q:How many inches between slats??
A:
Not sure. I am at work but can measure when I get home. Just guessing I would say 4″.

Q:What are the shipping dimensions of the box?
A:
I don’t recall exactly, it wasn’t much bigger than the gate, which sits about 40″x36″ folded.

Q:How wide is the gate door?
A:
Its about 25 inches wide

Q:Can this be used on banister with a gate adapter?
A:
Yes I believe it could be, you only need about 1 1/2-2 inches to mount the pin hinge. This is a very nice gate with the easy complete removal feature. It works great for us

Q:Can it be mounted a couple of inches off (above) the floor? Hoping to find out if the two sides are mounted firmly that the gate is sturdy enough.
A:
It’s pretty solid. I believe it would hold up well.

Q:Does this gate swing shut and latch…or do you have to pick up on it to get it to close???
A:
It latches when closed. And yes you must pick up a little to open the gate. Overall this is a high quality product and very well built. Cosmetics are excellent too. Install took 25 minutes.

Q:Anyone know why the gate does not close automatically anymore?
A:
No

Q:How important is it to make sure the gate is installed flush with the floor ?
A:
our floors aren’t perfectly level & we don’t have any issues w/our gate.

Q:What is the distance between bars? I want to use with a small dog.
A:
The are are about 3 inches apart. I’ve got a 9 week pup and there’s no way he could ever fit

Q:We have a 45 inch opening. Is this gate too big for it? I know it states that it will work, but not sure how it would look.
A:
I use this gate in front of french doors that are 60″ opening and it has to angle out on the sides to fit. I think this would be too big for your 45″ opening.

Q:How do the mounts work against base boards?
A:
This is a question we should have asked and therefor did not mount it to our base board, only up on the top brackets. Still very secure.

Q:could this gate fit around a fireplace?
A:
yes, it would be perfect

Q:How wide are the mounting brackets? I have to attach one side to our kitchen cabinets.
A:
The mounting hardware is about 1 1/2″ wide and about 3″ long. Gate is made very well.

Q:How do you deal with the molding?
A:
Our molding is very small so we positioned the gate above it. My husband suggested if the molding is taller, get a small piece of wood the same thickness as your molding to put between the top screw and the wall.

Q:my door way is only 59″ wide will it fit this doorway
A:
Yes is should The sides bend all the way in so the min is really the center gate portion which is in the 38 inch range or so. I think the hall I have it in is probably like 48 inches or so

Q:hi can you tell me what the measurement of the gap is between the bars?
A:
about 2inches my small dogs can’t get through pugs

Q:How wide is the gate?
A: I have it between my livingroom and dining room and that opening is 63 inches wide. The gate extends another 4 inches on either side where it is attached to the wall. I used industrial double sided Velcro as I did not want to put holes in my walls. It’s worked great!

Q:Will this fit a 52″ opening?
A: Yes.

Q:Where can i buy a second set of hardware?
A: If you are buying this to replace the narrow gate with the wider one it comes with mounting hardware so you will have 2 sets if you want to mount the narrow gate and some panels in another location.

Q:Can this be mounted in a hallway with baseboards, ie. are the top and bottom mounting plates adjustable?
A: They are not adjustable, we have the rubber type baseboards at church and I had to cut part of the baseboard out to make it fit. You could probably make a shim for the top mounting plate.

Q:Would this gate fit a 57″ space?
A: Yes, it bows on either side of the gate opening so it will fit with a curve in it.

Q:what is the spacing from bar to bar? Can a puppy fit through?
A: No the spacing is 2-21/2 inches apart

Q:How does the gate attach to the wall? Do I have to use screws?
A: I used them outside so I zip tied them to columns. They are at my Florida home so I can’t look but my guess is that yes there are screws to attach to walls. I will say the lock was very difficult to use. Pretty much had to have two hands to push the button down to unlock it. And even then, it was very difficult to push down.

Q:I see that this gate goes all the way up to 72” long. I have a 65” wide opening. Do i have to buy extra parts to make that fit or do i just buy what
A: No just this gate. It is 71 inches long and hanging bracket is the other inch to make 72.
This gate I s very nice and sturdy. Looks nice also.

Q:why does shipping take so long
A: Depends on who you purchase it through. We normally can ship this in 2 days but we always allow for an extra day or two as a precaution.

Q:Can this be used at the top of the stairs?
A: I imagine it could. Two caveats though. First, to open the door, you have to press down on a button located on the top of the railing. That may be awkward if you are coming up the stairs and you have to pull upward a bit. Guess that’s a saftey feature for small children. Also, you have to screw it into the wall on both sides. This gate goes up to 72 inches I think. I did not want to screw holes in my wall, so I used industrial strength double sided velcro. It’s to keep my dogs out of the dining room. Love that door though! I hope I helped

A:
The gate is 6 feet wide.

Q:I actually want to use this gate as a containment area when we open our front door so doggy doesn’t slip out. My elderly mother keeps letting dog out
A:
Well then, you have found the right product

Q:From the pictures of the product, it looks like the bottom mounts are a few inches up. Does anyone know if the baseboard problem been fixed?
A:
I bought mine this year and it has the “baseboard problem”. Pretty sure they have not changed the design yet.

Q:I want to put this outside on our front porch at the top of the stairs. The opening is 48″ and it can’t bow out more than 6″. possible?
A:
You can have it bow out onto the porch and it will still look nice. I have mine on our porch also and I have it turned in so it bows inwards and it looks awesome.

Q:do you ship to australia
A:
Julie – No – we only ship within the US. Bill

Q:Is this a tension mounted gate and if so does it stay in place securely?
A:
It is not tension mount. It is mounted to the wall with screws. It will stay secure with screws. I also have a tension mounted gate as well and it does stay pretty securely in place.

Q:Can this gate be used outside? Or will it not hold up to outdoor weather?
A:
I am. It positive that it can be used outdoors or not. I would have to look at the material it is made from to see if it would withstand the elements. However if you only need it when you are outside, it can be easily completely taken down and stored inside. We have taken ours down when moving furniture around or having a Birthday party. Hope this helps. It is not a permanent fixture, which makes it nice.

Q:I can not see where to contact the makers of this gate. I received my gate and it did not come with the parts to mount it on the wall. Where to order?
A:
I went to the PDF manual last page – but here is the information: WWW.northstatesind.com OR info@northstatesind.com or call (763) 486-1756 / toll free (800) 848-8421 (GOOD Luck ) L2k

Q:I need an extension panel because my opening is 89 inches wide. Is there an extension for this gate?
A:
None that I know of. It would lose its strength as it is built if there were.

Q:For anyone who has used this outdoors, can you tell me if it is holding up OK to the weather? I live in Virginia. Thanks!!
A:
Sorry only use it indoors it appears like it would work outdoors but who knows if we have another north east winter like this one. We love it, works perfectly and very easy to open with one hand.

A: It’s not super heavy, but strong enough to keep 2 dogs apart. My husky did learn to jump it, though, so it would depend on the size of your dog.

Q:do you need drywall anchors
A: We didn’t use any, and it doesn’t seem to cause an issue. But it wouldn’t hurt to use them, if you want it make sure it’s secure.

Q:Is 30 inches the highest part of the gate? I am looking to put in between two desks that have a counter hanging over the sides and only have 29 1/2 in
A: Just measured to be sure…..the arch is 31″ from floor to top. Hope this helps.

Q:is there any form of extensions? I am looking for a nicer looking gate but all seem to be smaller than 72″?
A: Hi Michael-I’m in the same boat as my opening is 84″. This one is 84″ wide X 31″ high at $124.95 and you can purchase extensions. Little pricey for me though.

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B003LWMUHU/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_S_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=12XL88B09DSVS&coliid=I2ZSKEA4BMKTDY&psc=1

Q:Is the expresso black or brown. I cannot tell.
A: I would have to say that it is more of a black, but there is a brown hue to it. I hope that helps. (more black than brown)

Q:We have an opening that has a slight angle. Will this adjust to that opening, or does it need to be set up straight?
A: As long as the gate can clear the angle it should be good.

Q:Is a drill required for installation? Does it leave a lot of holes in the wall after uninstalling?
A: You will need to drill this in to the wall. 2 mount points per spot, 4 spots total. But you can remove the gate from the mount points and reattach it later. Holes are super easy to fix.

Q:Is there any way to mount this without having to cut out the baseboard and mouldings? is there additional hardware i could buy?
A: Yes! Absolutely. We didn’t cut out anything. All you need is 2 chunks of moulding wood (3-inch by 1/2 thick), to install the TOP two hinges. (Hardware store. Super easy.) The bottom ones will screw directly into your baseboards, so all you need for the top ones is to find something of equal width to compensate. It took us less than 10 mins. (And your mouldings are safe – too high to matter.) Good luck!

Q:Is this product compatible with the 3-in-1 arched decor extra wide gate? We are interested in the possibility to connect the two.
A: Do not know. I purchased item for a customer who chose another solution. The item was returned without being used.

Q:How big is each section of the gate? Trying to figure out if it will turn to fit the bottom of our stairs
A: I’m sorry I don’t have that answer. I installed the gate in Arkansas and I live in California. The two side sections pivot so the whole thing can go from a hose shoe shape out to it’s maximum width. They can go from a 90 degree angle from the gate itself to almost straight across. Once in place the pivot points lock so they won’t move. I hope that helps.

A:
It is not designed for outdoor use, so it’s hard to say how it would be. It’s very sturdy, but I can’t guess how it would hold up to weather. You might try to contact the manufacturer.

Q:Our door opening is 48″ but we can’t have a gate that bows out into the room. Is there a way/option to make this gate work?
A:
You can install the gate to open either way. It has screws on both sides so you decide which way it opens when you install it.

Q:Does this gate come with pressure mounts? If not, can they be purchased separately?
A:
I bought the gate and it did not have pressure mounts. It is screwed into the wall. It does not look bad. Has a nice looking wall plate. I absolutely love this gate!

Q:Can the wall mounts be attached with adhesive rather than screws?
A:
Hard to say. If it were my child, I would say no. He is so strong he would probably be able to break it down with ease. This is a strong gate, don’t get me wrong, but he can shake it with ease.

Q:Can the upper/lower mounting brackets be adjusted due to base boards/wood molding? Thanks, Danny
A:
There is no adjustment for that, but if you are relatively handy it would mean 15 minutes with hacksaw, screwdriver and super glue.

Q:The entry into the den is 69 3/4″. The left/right sides have 2 3/4″ base board with quarter round molding. How will the lower screw mounts be installed ?
A:
The only thing i can think of is since they are on pegs could you screw the brackets into the inside of the door frame? I use mine outside on my deck. I can say its the best gate ever! I bought two different gates, one for each side. I can’t wait until I need to replace the other gate, I’ll be getting another one of these. If you can make it work it’s worth it.

Q:extension
A:
The gate is as wide as it is. However, it can angle out at both joints to fill a varied space.

Q:Can u add a extension to this gate
A:
No, you can not add or take out sections on this gate.

Q:If you remove the 2 side pieces that go on each side of the center door panel, can that panel sit on the posts that are mounted for smaller doorways?
A:
No. The mounting points are on the 2 end pieces and they can not be separated. For the center piece there are knobs that allow you move the center out in an angular position or you can keep it in a straight line with the end pieces.

Q:Does this close automatically?
A:
Yes it does. If you open it all the way, it will stay open if you want it to, but if you’re just going through it, it swings shut.

Q:Can I install it to attach to 2 perpendicular walls?
A:
I would imagine so. The brackets for the gate are only about 2″ wide so if there is room on the smaller face of the wall then it shouldn’t be a problem.

Q:Can you use just one panel and the gate if you have a smaller opening to block?
A:
Hello, No it won’t work, but it does bend a lot so it might work. I can measure it bent if you’d like.

Q:Can this gate be pressure mounted?
A:
No. It has to screw into a wall on both sides. It’s held up well keeping kids out of our office while looking good.

Q:Will this work in a 4′-6″ opening, and will the door be positioned in the center?
A:
Yes, the door is in the center. It should also work in the opening you are talking about

Q:Does this product have extentions available for purchase?
A:
No. It doesn’t. I just called the company to ask that question. The representative said that this gate isn’t manufactured to fit with the other superyard extensions.

Q:We have a 60 pound energetic labrador. Will the bowed area of the fence prove to be too weak or wobbly and eventually fail with a dog jumping on it?
A:
I am not sure the gate is tall enough. The labs I had as a kid would probably be able to jump it fairly easily. I would not mount it elevated off the ground as the gate is heavy and will sag without the support. The actual corners lock and seem fairly solidly. It would hold a lab leaning on it and reaching over, but may not hold a full charge. It is wall mounted, so if you hit the studs well, it would probably work.

Q:can I buy an extension?
A:
I am not aware of an available extension

Q:will this gate be able to go around a pellet stove and attach to two different walls.
A:
It’s possible. It would depend on how wide the stove is, and how close the walls are to the stove. The gate itself is very flexible, so it’d just be a matter of whether the walls are close enough to each other to accommodate the gate. I’d measure carefully before purchasing.

Q:Can this gate be used as an extension to the North States 3 in 1 Arched Decor Metal Superyard?
A:
Great Product.

Q:Are there any extensions that can be purchased? Our opening is about 92″, but I love the look of this gate!
A:
Love this gate! We did not need extensions and I didn’t see anywhere you could purchase them.

A:
The mounts will stay on the wall, but you can move the gate off from them or just one side and swing it out of the way. North States has a good video on their website on how it works. http://www.northstatesind.com/index.cfm/event/video/id/167/catid/6

Q:How exactly does the gate adjust lengths? Is it by the angle you put it at or is there a way to extend and shorten the gate? My opening is 47″
A:
It is by the angle of the gate at either mid joint you can adjust the angle. The larger part at the top at the mid points are the tighten and loosen to adjust angles. Note: the wall connectors are not adjustable so if you have floor molding you will need a spacer at the top to make it work. I did this with mine and it works wonderfully. Spacer is the thickness of the molding.

Q:How wide are the spaces between each rung?
A:
Hi Kalani, the average rung space is 2″ apart. There are two parts where it’s about a quarter inch larger, and a couple parts that are 1″. But most are 2″ apart.

Q:Does the gate door swing both ways?
A:
No, it does not

Q:If my door opening is 195cm wide can this gate secure on both the side wall ?
A:
I can’t really answer that because I never set it up in my house because it was to big.
