Same here. At first she would just look and walk away but once she learned it moved they didn’t work anymore. However, I do use it on my stairs with one end in the bannister and that works well.

it has little plates with screws and can be easily done

Each section is 20 inches long so 40 total. 30 inches tall

Q:how tall is it? how does it keep for being tipped over? is it preassembled?

A:

40 inches tall. it comes assembled with hinges which allow you to stand it up in a “V” shape. It can block a doorway if you train your dog not to touch it but a persistent dog can push it aside or knock it down. i have bought several and i like the style and convenience of moving it to different locations of the house depending on where i want my dogs to stay. I use a 4 piece gate for wider areas.

Q:How wide is the spacing between the bars? I bought one gate and my dogs walked right through the bars! I have 4 pound Maltese

Q:can i put hardware on thegate to make the gate more secure?

A:

I am not sure if hardware would make the gate any more secure. You could attach it to a wall at one end if you felt that it was not secure enough. My daughter bought the same gate, but hers cam with different hardware. I think I prefer hers. The operative gate in the four panels operates by lifting it up on her gate. On mine you have to pull back a small lever.

Q:I have 2 folding gates that are weighted internally at the bottom to add to the stability. Does this one have that as well?

A:

No, the gates are not weighted.

Q:My opening is 59″ so when I have the gate extended, when I open the door does the gate stay steady and not fall over

A:

I usually don’t have it extended. It’s usually bent and relatively sturdy. But it may fall over if it’s 100% extended.

Q:how wide is the gate without extensions?

A:

80″ wide/30″ high (each segment if 20″ wide/4 segments). Hope this helps.

Q:I’m a first time puppy owner (a very small poodle mix) and I’m concerned about the distance between the slats. Could a puppy get her head stuck?

A:

No! I have a small shih tzu and he tried but failed. They are not big enough. The only thing is he started chewing on the bottom and since it’s wood you can see the marks. Hope this helps. It really is a good product.

Q:Would this gate be stable for a 6 ft. opening? Can you get gate support feet for this gate?

A:

Yes, providing you get an extension piece (that consists of 2 panels). It is totally stable and I love it. The stability depends upon your being able to “zig zag” the gate. My opening is almost exactly 6 feet.

Q:How does the extender secure to the gate?

A:

Mine came with the appropriate hardware to fasten to an existing gate

Q:how much does the 4 panel gate weigh?

A:

I’m not sure of the exact weight. Maybe 5 pounds. It is not heavy and is easy to move. Needed to velvo close the door as the gate got a little out of shape and dog learned to open it. Now we just swing the last panel to open. Still happy with it.

Q:is it easy for the dog to push over? And is it really chew resistant? I have heavy chewers (2 puppies)

A:

Can be easily pushed over. We secured ours to the wall with clips. It’s all wood. If they chew wood they will chew this. It is very pretty though
