Q:our doorway is 60 in. is it 58in when using all the extensions? or is it 58in before using any of the extensions? thanks!
A:

It just barely fits our 61 inch opening with all of the included extensions. We are purchasing an extension just to make it more secure because if we had a pushy dog or a child, this could be knocked down fairly easily. And because it’s not tight enough on the ends, the door closes a little funny.

Q:Is this strong if my doorway is 55in and my baby 1.5 years old to shake/pull this gate?

if you extend bolts and tighten it good it should be fine it holds my 180 lb dog back

Q:What is the spacing between the bars? I would like this for a small dog.
A:

Generally they are between 2-1/4 and 2-3/4 inches, with a few closer to 1 inch. Our skinny cats go right thru, our fat one does not.

A:

Yes, it will. It comes in several different pieces to make it smaller or larger to fit your needs.

16″. It’s the only thing I wish was different, being larger.

Yes. There are different extensions to make it fit the area that you need so that you will definitely have a secure gate. Mine is at the top of the stair case and it’s very secure and it’s a wide staircase and yet I use the smallest extension to the widest part of the staircase.

Q:Our door way is 45inch, is it ok to use this gate?
A:

Mine is 48 inches and the gate works perfectly.

Q:Will this fit 46.5″ or 47.5″. I’ve read where other Regalo do not fit certain sizes. Need it to prevent 7 month old from going in the kitchen.

we have it at the furthest we have it at the furthest extension but it will fi but it will fit smaller you won

I have it up as tension only for an older dog. If I had children or a more rambunctious dog, I wouldn’t trust it tension only but for my needs it works just fine.

Q:My dogs are very small. What is the distance between the spokes of the gate? I want to make sure they will not be able to squeeze through!

The widest spokes, right near the actual gate part, are 2 and 3/4 inches between…

I see what you are saying. The difference is that there are 2 different sellers. Each has different prices. I would order to single gates.

My opening is 48 inches and we used the the large extension and it fits perfectly.. I think it will work for you, as I had used the small extension first and it fit.. but my husband came home and redid it with the large one.. what I’m saying is.. the tension screws go out pretty far.. hope this answer helps you!

yes, you can arrange the gate and the extension pieces in any way you like

The box is 28 x 31 and 2 1/2 inches deep.

Because of where it is hinged the gate is 16 inches wide and 30 inches tall.

Q:Does the gate swing both ways ?
A:
No, the gate has a stopper in one direction; it is made to swing only one way. You can just uninstall it and turn it in either direction however if you only want to switch what direction it opens in occasionally.

Q:Does this have pressure or screw in pads?
A:
I used pressure mount. No damage or marks of any kind to walls and woodwork. It was sturdy and secure even when a one-year-old was leaning on it. A 20-month-old was able to open and close the gate.

Q:I have a 53 opening. Would this work with the extensions?
A:
I’m not sure. I’m using both extensions and I have it at a 59 opening. If u leave out one extension it might work for u. Sorry I couldn’t be more help.

No drilling is required, but it is not very sturdy for wide spans.

Q:do you make anything any wider?
A:
There are other types that come wider and you can purchase extension pieces for this model. I did not have to use all the extension pieces that came with the set. Good luck

A:
The extensions that come with it allow it to expand to 58″. My opening is 53″.

Q:Do you have to drill holes in your walls to install this?
A:
Only if you put it at the TOP of the stairs to ensure it doesn’t move. Otherwise, it’s a simple pressure-mounted installation & no holes/screws necessary.

Q:Has anyone tried using 2 gate across a long opening? I bought an extension but it bows when my grandson tries to open gate my opening is 72 inches.

It is possible, but you would have to readjust it every time you put it back which may become a hassle. We leave ours in place.

It can be pressure mounted (no drilling), but also come w/ cups that can be screwed into the wall. We pressure mounted & it wore the paint & texture off in one area in less than two weeks.

O the gate itself is 58 inch wide when it expand when it came in the pack even if the inside expands up to 58 inch it came in the pack compact or I will say less than that inch sorry I couldn’t give you exact but I am positive it was less measure I hope this information will give you a clue I don’t think its a bad size to transport I picked it up from my back yard.

Q:Our doorway is 41.5 at the top but 37 at the bottom because of the mold. Does this extend enough to fit both sides?
A:
We have about half to 3/4 inch difference from where the top is against wall and bottom is against floorboard and don’t have a problem. Your difference is much greater though.. It is adjustable at each point and if you are doing the permanent anchoring it would be more stable. You should probably ask the company directly.

We loosened ares, But you also have to make sure that they are equal on all sides. But if it needs tightened just spin the plastic knob.

Keith, This should work for you. The gate itself is 26″ at the top. (I think the bottom is an inch or two shorter.) It comes with 3 add on pieces: 6″, 8″, &12″.

Yes, your pressure mounts will be out probably two to three inches on both sides which isn’t a big deal. I just measured mine and they give you two expandable pieces you will only need the big one.

A:
I doubt that this gate could withstand too many years of 4 season conditions. It don’t really consider it a permanent fixture. Since I only use it on the occasions when there are small children in the house, I am probably not the best person to ask.

It will fit because you have some leeway for adjustment. Set it on level base. You can also purchase separately end protectors for protection of your walls.

A:
Each adjustable leg may be set to different lengths. My house is ancient and no longer level, all doorways have shifted, so the gates were perfect for me.

A:
The door is easy to open but I dont know if the suspension will be sufficient on banister poles. You may need to mount it.

Pressure-mount only although the rubber friction caps can be fixed in place by a screw to ensure pressure is applied to the four spots you choose.

I just now measured the width between the rails, and it is mostly not more than 2.5 iches wide (you can see from the pic there is some variance in width between the rails.) If you look closely at the pic, at the bottom you’ll see where some rails curve one way or the other a bit. I’d measure this at its biggest point to be 2 x 3 inches. So, if your cat can squeeze thru a 2 x 3 space or smaller, they can get thru. I do not have a cat, but I see that the other people commented that their cats jump over. For us, it has been a great gate and works perfectly – no problems whatsoever. I might suggest you put some screening on it – that would fully block the opening. Good luck

Yes you can purchase more extentions. I think I have seen them in 6 and 10 inches wide. Hope this helps.

I have the same issue. I just attached it above the molding. Since its not drilled into the wall I preferred this as it was more secure this way.

Sarah yes it will fit your space. It comes with 3 or 4 sections to accommodate different size areas. I originally had the gate set up for 45 inches, then i realized my dog was really smart and had to move it to a 58 in opening and it works great. I hope this helps you.

I’d say it’s about 2-3 inches…so if your dog is super small they may be able to squeeze through…

I believe they are often returned items that are sold at a discount. All parts should be included but there’s a chance something might be missing.

Q:Is it possible to mount this gate a few inches off the floor to gain some additional height?
A:
The gate is held in place by tension to the 2 walls so it can be raised for additional height, however that would also raise the bottom rail making it necessary to step over that rail. You have to step over it when mounted near the floor but if it gets stepped on, it merely pushes against the floor. If one were to step on it while raised, you would probably knock the gate over because it would collapse due to the extra space below the bottom rail. If you are using it as a blockade with little use of the gate, it’s probably not a problem but if the gate will be used on a regular basis, it will probably get knocked over a lot.

I don’t have a cat, but my guess would be the bars are wide enuf for a cat to slither thru . . . it’s a great gate though, so if you wanted to add some kind of netting it might work. We’ve had our gate for a while and it works great.

With conflicting reviews I see what you mean and I don’t know how my answer could help you other that confuse you anymore, all I know is that when I received my gate and installed it which was easy I had no problems what so ever, I have my seperating my kitchen and dining room to keep my dog and granddaughter out of the kitchen, my entrance is approx 57 1/4″ wide. This is a great product as I brought one this size and 3 smaller sizes through out my house.I hope this helps.

The gate is adjustable not singly by adding either one or two attachments, but they expand to fit nice and snug by twisting the adjusters into place. So, it should fit 45″ just fine (if it’s a straight space) it does need something flat on each end to snug into unless you want to drill into the walls.

Q:would you recommend to use at the top of stairway

I’m using mine in my travel trailer, but I think it is solid enough for the top of a stairway IF you use the enclosed cups to permanently attach it to the walls.
