What’s in the Box
Regalo Extra-Wide Walk-Through Gate, instruction manual, 6-inch extension kit, 8-inch extension kit, 12-inch extension kit, four spindle rods, and four wall cups.
A:
It just barely fits our 61 inch opening with all of the included extensions. We are purchasing an extension just to make it more secure because if we had a pushy dog or a child, this could be knocked down fairly easily. And because it’s not tight enough on the ends, the door closes a little funny.
Q:Is this strong if my doorway is 55in and my baby 1.5 years old to shake/pull this gate?
A:
if you extend bolts and tighten it good it should be fine it holds my 180 lb dog back
Q:What is the spacing between the bars? I would like this for a small dog.
A:
Generally they are between 2-1/4 and 2-3/4 inches, with a few closer to 1 inch. Our skinny cats go right thru, our fat one does not.
Q:will it fit smaller 55 inch opening
A:
Yes, it will. It comes in several different pieces to make it smaller or larger to fit your needs.
Q:How wide is the gate opening?
A:
16″. It’s the only thing I wish was different, being larger.
Q:Can you purchase and extension kit? Our opening is 72 inches
A:
yes
Q:will it work with a 47.5 opening?
A:
Yes. There are different extensions to make it fit the area that you need so that you will definitely have a secure gate. Mine is at the top of the stair case and it’s very secure and it’s a wide staircase and yet I use the smallest extension to the widest part of the staircase.
Q:Our door way is 45inch, is it ok to use this gate?
A:
Mine is 48 inches and the gate works perfectly.
Q:Will this fit 46.5″ or 47.5″. I’ve read where other Regalo do not fit certain sizes. Need it to prevent 7 month old from going in the kitchen.
A:
we have it at the furthest we have it at the furthest extension but it will fi but it will fit smaller you won
Q:Can this gate be installed as a tension gate only. I want to be able to remove it without any brackets, etc in my wall
A:
I have it up as tension only for an older dog. If I had children or a more rambunctious dog, I wouldn’t trust it tension only but for my needs it works just fine.
Q:My dogs are very small. What is the distance between the spokes of the gate? I want to make sure they will not be able to squeeze through!
A:
The widest spokes, right near the actual gate part, are 2 and 3/4 inches between…
Q:Does anyone understand the fact that 1 gate is about $50.00 and if you order 2 gates the cost is around $156.00?
A:
I see what you are saying. The difference is that there are 2 different sellers. Each has different prices. I would order to single gates.
Q:How high is the regalo 58″ gate?
A:
30 inches but you can actually place it as high has u want
Q:Some review say it doesn’t fit 55″ opening (with extension, it’s too wide; w/out extension, too narrow) Should this be a problem if my opening is 56″?
A:
My opening is 48 inches and we used the the large extension and it fits perfectly.. I think it will work for you, as I had used the small extension first and it fit.. but my husband came home and redid it with the large one.. what I’m saying is.. the tension screws go out pretty far.. hope this answer helps you!
Q:Can the gate be put on the left or right side and still be 58 inches?
A:
yes, you can arrange the gate and the extension pieces in any way you like
Q:What are the dimensions of the box for shipping? I need to calculate how much it would cost to send it to Trinidad through my sky box. Thanks.
A:
The box is 28 x 31 and 2 1/2 inches deep.
Q:Gate opening dimensions
A:
Because of where it is hinged the gate is 16 inches wide and 30 inches tall.
Q:Does the gate swing both ways ?
A:
No, the gate has a stopper in one direction; it is made to swing only one way. You can just uninstall it and turn it in either direction however if you only want to switch what direction it opens in occasionally.
Q:Does this have pressure or screw in pads?
A:
I used pressure mount. No damage or marks of any kind to walls and woodwork. It was sturdy and secure even when a one-year-old was leaning on it. A 20-month-old was able to open and close the gate.
Q:I have a 53 opening. Would this work with the extensions?
A:
I’m not sure. I’m using both extensions and I have it at a 59 opening. If u leave out one extension it might work for u. Sorry I couldn’t be more help.
Q:Drilling needed?. My baby is one year old. How secure is it?
A:
No drilling is required, but it is not very sturdy for wide spans.
Q:do you make anything any wider?
A:
There are other types that come wider and you can purchase extension pieces for this model. I did not have to use all the extension pieces that came with the set. Good luck
Q:I have a 47″ opening I need closed off. Will this work or does it fall in the “in between” size?
A:
The extensions that come with it allow it to expand to 58″. My opening is 53″.
Q:Do you have to drill holes in your walls to install this?
A:
Only if you put it at the TOP of the stairs to ensure it doesn’t move. Otherwise, it’s a simple pressure-mounted installation & no holes/screws necessary.
Q:If using for top of the stairs, will the bottom of it be a trip hazard?
A:
Yes
Q:Has anyone tried using 2 gate across a long opening? I bought an extension but it bows when my grandson tries to open gate my opening is 72 inches.
A:
No
Q:Can You tell me the dimensions of the box??
A:
It was probably 3′x3′. But, I don’t remember for sure.
Q:Would it be easy to take this down and fold it up to store on a daily basis? We’re looking for something to keep our dog in the kitchen while away.
A:
It is possible, but you would have to readjust it every time you put it back which may become a hassle. We leave ours in place.
Q:Does this product need to be drilled onto the wall?
A:
It can be pressure mounted (no drilling), but also come w/ cups that can be screwed into the wall. We pressure mounted & it wore the paint & texture off in one area in less than two weeks.
Q:Can a small dog slip through any opening?
A:
I would say no, it’s probably a 3 inch gap between bars
Q:My space is 45 1/2 inches wide–will this gate work?
A:
yes this should work for you. This gate is very very good. One of the best gates I ever bought.
Q:What is the height of the gate?
A:
I don’t know, I bought it as a gift for my greatgrandson
Q:I have a wide opening: 110″!!!! Will the extension help reach this huuuge opening? please advise!
A:
no, my opening is 57 or 58″ and it was hard to get it in without someone else holding it in place for me while I screwed the holders in place.
Q:What is the minimum gate measurement?
A:
Probably about 27 inches.
Q:Can the door be set to an open position when kids are sleeping etc?
A:
I never did that but just leave it swung open I would think would work mine was for puppy so we just used in and out only.
Q:Can a cat squeeze thorgh the bars or on the sides?
A:
I don’t believe so. A kitten probably could.
Q:Does it fit a 40″ opening?
A:
yes a believe it would – comes in pieces to get the best fit
Q:we have 2 dogs, the smallest is a 7lb shih tzu, would she be able to get through between the slats?
A:
Probably not
Q:How tall is it?
A:
30 inches tall
Q:can it be mounted with wall on one side and banister on the other?
A:
Yes I guess if the banister is at least 2-3 inches wide, top and bottom for the brace can be mounted onto.
Q:Will this gate fill through a regular doorway 29″?
A:
The smallest size is 29.5″, and comes with 3 extenders to make it 58″
Q:does it include wall protection cups or i need to order
A:
I think it does. No damage to my walls.
Q:What are the exact dimensions of the package when shipped? Need to know for taking it overseas.
A:
O the gate itself is 58 inch wide when it expand when it came in the pack even if the inside expands up to 58 inch it came in the pack compact or I will say less than that inch sorry I couldn’t give you exact but I am positive it was less measure I hope this information will give you a clue I don’t think its a bad size to transport I picked it up from my back yard.
Q:Our doorway is 41.5 at the top but 37 at the bottom because of the mold. Does this extend enough to fit both sides?
A:
We have about half to 3/4 inch difference from where the top is against wall and bottom is against floorboard and don’t have a problem. Your difference is much greater though.. It is adjustable at each point and if you are doing the permanent anchoring it would be more stable. You should probably ask the company directly.
Q:can cats fit through slats
A:
A kitten or a small cat can fit through
Q:it is a little bowed ? how do I tighten it uo a little bit?
A:
We loosened ares, But you also have to make sure that they are equal on all sides. But if it needs tightened just spin the plastic knob.
Q:Can this mounted with the door/opening off center? I want to across a double door opening to our master bedroom but walk through one side only.
A:
Not Possible
Q:Will this fit the width of a 47 inch doorway?
A:
My doorway was 48″ and it fit!
Q:My opening is 60″. Will this gate fit?
A:
I believe the largest expansion is 58 inches…so probably not.
Q:Passage we are trying to enclose is about 120 inches. What extension do you recommend for this gate?
A:
I’m out of town right now but if u can wait: until Friday ,I will respond then
Q:can it fit in a 53 inch opening
A:
Yes, it goes up to 58 inch opening. There are different size extenders to accommodate 53 inch opening.
Q:How easy is the latch to open? Can my four year old do it?
A:
It has to be pulled up and back; not that easy. A child could be taught
Q:i need to know the package dimensions for this product so i can carry it overseas in an airplane . can someone help?
A:
The box dimension is 31.5″ x 28″ x 2.5″.
Q:what is the minimum door width…mine is only 46″ at the bottom and 48″ at top…will this work?
A:
Keith, This should work for you. The gate itself is 26″ at the top. (I think the bottom is an inch or two shorter.) It comes with 3 add on pieces: 6″, 8″, &12″.
Q:i have 46″ opening – will this work with adjusters on both sides?
A:
Yes, with the 2 extenders that come with, and the adjusters, it should work just fine.
Q:I asked for “wide outdoor gates” and this came up. If anyone has used this on a deck could you let me know if it has held up? Thanks!
A:
Yes it is great for decks. Holds up and is sturdy.
Q:stairs
A:
I dont think it will work on stairs. There are better alternatives.
Q:Can this gate be used outdoors?
A:
Yes, I use it on my front porch….
Q:Will it fit a 44″ wide opening?
A:
Yes, your pressure mounts will be out probably two to three inches on both sides which isn’t a big deal. I just measured mine and they give you two expandable pieces you will only need the big one.
Q:I want to install this on my outside deck stairs. Will this withstand the 4 seasons? It will be completely exposed to the elements.
A:
I doubt that this gate could withstand too many years of 4 season conditions. It don’t really consider it a permanent fixture. Since I only use it on the occasions when there are small children in the house, I am probably not the best person to ask.
Q:How wide is the door opening?
A:
As wide as a standard stair case. Not exactly sure. Wide enough that it needed 2 of the enclosed 3 extenders.
Q:does it fit 72 inch space
A:
58″ is the widest it goes.
Q:How tall is it?
A:
30″
Q:Will the adjustments combine to fit a 47.5″ space?
A:
Yes but it’s really flimsy. I returned it
Q:I have a 58.5″ opening do you think it will fit? If it doesn’t ok to return? How wide is it in between each pole (in inches)?
A:
It will fit because you have some leeway for adjustment. Set it on level base. You can also purchase separately end protectors for protection of your walls.
Q:What is the width between the slots? Will a cat be able to get through?
A:
Yes, even a large cat could fit through it.
Q:How long can the adjustable bold extend? There are 3 inches different between the top part and the bottom part of the wall.
A:
Each adjustable leg may be set to different lengths. My house is ancient and no longer level, all doorways have shifted, so the gates were perfect for me.
Q:i dont have a wall to use i am using it on a banister and using zippie ties would it hold together? is the gate/door easy to open??
A:
The door is easy to open but I dont know if the suspension will be sufficient on banister poles. You may need to mount it.
Q:does this gate have the option of being hardward mounted, or is the only optinon pressure mounting it?
A:
Pressure-mount only although the rubber friction caps can be fixed in place by a screw to ensure pressure is applied to the four spots you choose.
Q:what is the height of this gate?
A:
THE GATE IS ABOUT 3 FEET TALL
Q:How wide is the space between each of the bars? I want to buy this to keep my cat out of the room and want to make sure she can’t fit through.
A:
This is a copy and paste of my Oct 8th answer to the same question. Hope it helps. slb
Hi. You might want to see also a July posting I and 2 others responded to “Is this gate good for a cat?”. I just now measured the width between the rails, and it is mostly not more than 2.5 iches wide (you can see from the pic there is some variance in width between the rails.) If you look closely at the pic, at the bottom you’ll see where some rails curve one way or the other a bit. I’d measure this at its biggest point to be 2 x 3 inches. So, if your cat can squeeze thru a 2 x 3 space or smaller, they can get thru. I do not have a cat, but I see that the other people commented that their cats jump over. For us, it has been a great gate and works perfectly – no problems whatsoever. I might suggest you put some screening on it – that would fully block the opening. Good luck
Q:Can you buy another extension that will allow it to go 60 inches?
A:
Yes you can purchase more extentions. I think I have seen them in 6 and 10 inches wide. Hope this helps.
Q:Will this expand to 60 inch door way??
A:
No. Just the 58″.
Q:Can this be installed at an angle?
A:
No. It needs flat doorways to be installed properly.
Q:is there a hardware mount option with this gate or is it pressure mount only?
A:
It’s pressure mount only.
Q:is there something to do to attach the extensions aside from just “clicking” i dont feel that it is very sturdy?
A:
i can tell you this, i have one with the extra extension and another one without. it is verys sturdy my two year old is very strong and she hasn’t tore one down yet or even come close. they are very well made.
Q:I have a wood molding on the bottom of the wall making it roughly 53 inches and the wall at the top is 54 inches. Can the top and bottom be different
A:
I have the same issue. I just attached it above the molding. Since its not drilled into the wall I preferred this as it was more secure this way.
Q:Is the space between the rails narrow enough so that a cat cannot get through
A:
Hi. You might want to see also a July posting I and 2 others responded to “Is this gate good for a cat?”. Q:My space is 41″ wide – after reading the different reviews i am confused if this gate will be able to be secured within my space. Please help!
A:
Sarah yes it will fit your space. It comes with 3 or 4 sections to accommodate different size areas. I originally had the gate set up for 45 inches, then i realized my dog was really smart and had to move it to a 58 in opening and it works great. I hope this helps you.
Q:48
A:
No 58″. I love this gate.
Q:How much space is between slats and how much space is between last slat and wall? I have a 4 pound chihuahua I need to keep from getting out.
A:
I’d say it’s about 2-3 inches…so if your dog is super small they may be able to squeeze through…
Q:What is open box offer and how does it differ from new ? are all parts included in open box?
A:
I believe they are often returned items that are sold at a discount. All parts should be included but there’s a chance something might be missing.
Q:Is it possible to mount this gate a few inches off the floor to gain some additional height?
A:
The gate is held in place by tension to the 2 walls so it can be raised for additional height, however that would also raise the bottom rail making it necessary to step over that rail. You have to step over it when mounted near the floor but if it gets stepped on, it merely pushes against the floor. If one were to step on it while raised, you would probably knock the gate over because it would collapse due to the extra space below the bottom rail. If you are using it as a blockade with little use of the gate, it’s probably not a problem but if the gate will be used on a regular basis, it will probably get knocked over a lot.
Q:Does it keep cats blocked out of the room?
A:
Mine doesn’t jump it
Q:Is it good for cats?
A:
I don’t have a cat, but my guess would be the bars are wide enuf for a cat to slither thru . . . it’s a great gate though, so if you wanted to add some kind of netting it might work. We’ve had our gate for a while and it works great.
Q:Will this gate fit a 52.25 inches opening?
A:
It expands to 58″ inches. For odd measurements, adjust by using only one of the expansion (add on pieces) that comes with the gate.
Q:What is the gap between the bars? I want to use this to contain a small (Yorkie) puppy.
A:
I house sat a 12 week old mini dachshund puppy and she could fit through the bars.
Q:can I buy more extentions?..My area I is wider than 65inch
A:
This gate came with three extensions (the main reason I purchased it). I only used the longest one to get my area covered. So if you need more then they provide I may still have the other two short ones.
Q:How wide is the walk thru gate ?
A:
About 15.5″. Pretty narrow. Get used to turning sideways and lifting packages over the gate.
Q:Some customer reviews say the gate doesn’t reach a full 58 inches, or it’s too wide for a 55 inch area. Will it fill 57 inches with the extensions?
A:
With conflicting reviews I see what you mean and I don’t know how my answer could help you other that confuse you anymore, all I know is that when I received my gate and installed it which was easy I had no problems what so ever, I have my seperating my kitchen and dining room to keep my dog and granddaughter out of the kitchen, my entrance is approx 57 1/4″ wide. This is a great product as I brought one this size and 3 smaller sizes through out my house.I hope this helps.
Q:I have a 45″ space. Will it work for that? I am confused by Nathalie’s response below
A:
The gate is adjustable not singly by adding either one or two attachments, but they expand to fit nice and snug by twisting the adjusters into place. So, it should fit 45″ just fine (if it’s a straight space) it does need something flat on each end to snug into unless you want to drill into the walls.
Q:would you recommend to use at the top of stairway
A:
I’m using mine in my travel trailer, but I think it is solid enough for the top of a stairway IF you use the enclosed cups to permanently attach it to the walls.
Q:I have a 53″ opening, but a lot of responses say that it won’t fit with the base alone & with an ext. it is too big. How big is base & extensions?
A:
It should fit your 53″ opening since it goes up to 58″.
Q:would a cat be able to squeeze through the openings?
A:
yes
