This will need to anchor on two sides to either walls or a piece of furniture. We mounted one side to the back wall and one side to our entertainment center.

Ours is about 12in and depending on how hot you get the insert or how long it has been going they can get pretty hot to the touch. Never burned but thought it was pretty hot for a kid gate. Our hearth is brick and we have the gate around that. The part that gets hot is the part closest to the blower on the insert. It is the door section of the gate that gets hot and just the top part. Have had no other issues with any other part getting hot. Over all its a good protection/deterant to stay away from the woodstove. It is a good gate and I haven’t found anything better to replace it.

We have three ferrets too. One is a Houdini. Even he can’t get over it. I love this for my ferrets. Wouldn’t use anything else after buying it.

as far as I can remember(we use it for ferrets and haven’t used it for over a year)—my husband took a slim pice of wood and nailed it into the wall and then the gate fitted tightly—hope this helps.Gay

Q:Could a ferret or kitten climb the mesh and get over?? or is it a solid piece in the center?

It’s a solid piece. Like plexie glass. No mesh. My two ferrets have yet to climb it- it’s too high for them.. However, my kitten eventually figured out how to jump over it.. But that’s to be expected with a growing kitten. I would def recommend this gate, especially for ferrets! Hope this helps.

The play pin is huge! It is adjustable to go smaller if needed. Also enough pieces to separate the 2 if needed. And if is tall enough. My daughter is a very tall 1 year old and she is no where near able to climb out. I love it!

Yes, it has clear (super strong) suction cups on the bottom to keep it still. It shouldn’t damage your floor unless it’s very soft wood. You might want to put a mat or blanket in it for your child’s comfort, but that’s up to you.

Q:If a two year old, laying on their back, were to constantly kick the panels, what would the results be? (Son is disabled, non verbal, but very strong)

He wouldn’t be able to kick it apart but he might be able to slightly move it depending on where and how you had it positioned. He wouldn’t be able to move the entire playpen cause all together it is sturdy and heavy but he might slightly move a wall. My two and a half year old who is in to everything & very strong willed loves this thing and she’s almost thirty pounds and can’t move it ( we don’t have it suctioned to the floor either ) actually the only way mine gets moved is if all five of my kids are in it at once playing ( ages eight to two )

No I have not tried outside. Stickers fall off easily. It’s fair. It doesn’t stick to laminate flooring very well with the suction cups on the bottom, but it will do.

I would not recommend this play pen. It is not sturdy and the panels come apart very easily. My grand daughter is 9 months old and pulling up and this did not work for her. It fell on top of her and came apart. Also the slats are so wide that she would get her arms and legs caught in between them. I actually asked for a refund and did not use it at all.

Same here. At first she would just look and walk away but once she learned it moved they didn’t work anymore. However, I do use it on my stairs with one end in the bannister and that works well.

I use a 4 piece gate for wider areas.

Yes, we had the same issue at bottom of stairs. And at the top where we attached it to newel posts. There are bolts that allow for adjustment. The ends of the adjustment caps sit in a cup that is screwed into wall, baseboard etc.

Details say for up to 40.5 inches, but extensions can be added. I do like the gate. Opens easily both ways and closes easily with the latch.

No, I can’t see it being for outside use. The wooden parts aren’t treated. We use it at the bottom of our stairs to the second floor so our grandchild can’t climb up unattended.

Yes, I think a lot of people have this observation. It is designed this way. It lines up as you tighten the bolts on either side.

Q:I want to place this inbetween our screendoor and front door, does the wood have any kind of weather sealant or is this a really bad idea?

I think it will be fine. The wood is shiny like it has a protection to it. This gate is sturdy and beautiful. Looks great and blends in with any room. WAY better than the plastic ones. After I put one up, I ordered several more for all my rooms.

the gate is more the color of a cherry wood finish. some are slightly darker than others.

For an adult yes.

I don’t think so. I found that this gate opens and shuts a lot easier than many these days. All that is required is a somewhat firm squeeze and a downward push to open the latch. I would guess a six year old can do it easily.

2-1/4 inches between the wooden pieces and 2-3/8 between the wood and metal. We have cats and they definitely cannot fit between the slats.

You reach a width of 40.5 when using the included 3 extensions.

At the top of the stairs is where I have mine. It’s very sturdy you also have a tab / lock at the bottom of the gate. not sure what you mean by both options except there are plastic caps you can either screw into the wall or double side foam tape you can use when you mount it. I used the tape.

Dark silver and the wood is a deeper color than the picture displays

We use the tension to secure to doorways. I think it might have came with something to screwed to the wall, but I am not sure we bought our gates over 2yrs ago and I can’t remember. I know using the tension mount we have not had any problems. We have had dogs jump on it,kids lean and push and people kick them and they hold strong!
