Q:Does this value pack include the hardware to mount directly to the wall? Description does not mention it, and refers to it as a “pressure gate” only?

Because of the design, the space between the bars is not consistent all the wat across. On the swinging door the space is 2.5″, but on the left and right side that don’t move it ranges from 2.25-2.75″. Hope that helps!

Q:Does it work with baseboards? Can the pressure be adjusted on the bottom part to adjust for this?

A:

Yes it can. The bottom and the top adjust separately.

Q:How wide is the walk-thru gate?

The opening is 18 inches.

Q:Will it work for a 36″ opening. I have read some do not fit well for this size

A:

I just measured, and the gate, with the long extension is 32.25″ wide. That leaves plenty of room for the adjusters. OK, so everyone can do the math: The 3 sections are 26″ (Gate), 4.25″ and 6.25″ (Extensions), and the adjusters need 1.125″ each (2.25 total) as a minimum. The adjusters are about 5″ long. OK, so everyone can do the math:

Q:How wide is the walk-through section?

A:

16 inches. Just measured it for ya!

Q:Can the gate be hardware mounted instead of pressure mounted?

A:

It comes with a plastic cup that can be more securely attached for use in larger openings. Still is only pressure but would be into an installed, screwed into the door frame, cup and not just on the door frame. It uncommonly comes loose without the cup and I have a standard poodle that stands up on the door frequently.

Q:would a 3 years old be able to open it? does it lock?

A:

No. My kids are 8 and they have trouble with it. I sometimes have trouble with it also

Q:Are the openings big enough for a cat to get through?

A:

Yes

Q:From the picture, it looks as though there is a crossbar that stays in place regardless of whether the gate is open or closed. If the gate is open, is this the case, where you would have to step over the crossbar every time?

A:

Yes it is a small one. It is close to the ground. But you must step over it.

Q:Could this work outside?

A:

As long as it has two walls or banisters or polls to push against. The firmness of the gate comes from the pressure that pushes against two objects.

I have it in a 30″ doorway, but it comes with optional extension pieces and can be extended to 44″.

Q:i have a bull mastiff puppy.five months old….what are your thoughts on this gate keeping her out???

A:

I think it would work. If she grows up with the gate I doubt she would try to jump it or knock it over. They’re pretty tall and sturdy gates. We have 2. The dogs don’t fool with them.

Q:Will this work on my 33″ doorway with the 4″ extension??

A:

it works great and looks great on our 40 inch doors. However, I don’t see a way to make it small enough to fit a 33 inch door.

Q:Is it a push button to open or do you lift up?

A:

The on this gate is a push. You do not need to push and lift. Once you push the button simply push or pull the gate the direction you want as it is made to open towards you or away from you.

Q:My doorway is 44 1/2 inches wide. Will this fit with the extension kit, or not?

A:

Yes it will. I just took mine down and relocated it to a hallway that is 44 1/2 and it’s perfect with both extension pieces attached

Q:If the door is 28″ to extend it to 34″, does it come with additional extension bars, or is the extension through the knobs only?

A:

It comes with extra sections of gate, it works really really well, I am very very happy with it

A:

It stays open but my sons have shut it hard enough that it’ll close without having to squeeze the button. I find it convenient that it stays open on its own so when my daughter isn’t roaming around I can easily walk through it when my hands are full.

Q:I have three questions: Does the gate open both ways? Will the gate door stay open? How wide is the walk through opening?

It opens only one way, the door can stay open or closed, and me and hubby walk side ways when walking through

We did not place at door but at top of stairs and it works fine.

Q:What is the maximum opening at the top of the stairs that this gate will fit.

A:

When the gate is fully extended out it measures about 4 ft. We have 2 of these gates, one is in our wide hallway which measures 40.5 inches wide and this gate is perfect!

Q:I’d like to find a wooden gate that matches my floors, but have had trouble finding this. Can this gate be stained or is their a finish on it?

A:

yes it can be stained

Q:Can this gate be popped off/on the hardware? We want something we can put up for everyday use and take down for a day if we have a party or something.

A:

Yes you can remove the gate and just the brackets will remain on the wall.

Q:Can this gate be mounted if I have posts on each side (no walls)?

A:

I would think so. I would just make sure the post you are mounting to is sturdy enough to accommodate the swinging gate.

Q:Will this gate be able to accommodate a top mounting width that is a little different than the bottom mounting width?

A:

Maybe if they’re not more than .5″ different. It only lock latches on the top so that would need to be the narrower width. The bottom doesn’t latch, it just slides into a metal bracket, so it could still close and latch on top if the bottom is a little wider. If the width was too different, the top might still latch, but a child could push on the bottom and get an arm/leg/head through so you might have to modify the bottom bracket by using a piece of filler wood between the bracket and the wall.

Q:Are you able to use this if one of the mounting sides is a bannister?

A:

if it’s a wood bannister you can drill right into it…only 4 screws per side….if metal railing…we strap a piece of wood to it and then mount gate into wood

Q:Does anyone know the difference between this and the Evenflo Top of Stairs Gate Plus?

A:

Seems to be same. I got two of this one and we love it.

Q:The xtra tall seems to be fairly similar to the Plus….but $10 cheaper. Is there any reason to get the plus?

A:

The extra tall stair gate works great and is easy to maneuver. I am not familiar with the plus.

Q:What is the distance between the posts – looking to use for cats?

A:

The distance between the posts (horizontal bars) is 2 7/8 inches. So I guess it would depend on the size of your cats. We are using it to keep the grandchildren from tumbling down the basement stairs, but we mounted it high enough off the floor so that our cats could get under it to have access to their basement catboxes.
