Q:How big/wide is the opening of the gate?
A:
16.5″ gate opening
Q:Is this suitable for outdoors on a deck?
A:
I can’t see why you couldn’t use it on deck if your post are sturdy and the deck is well built. Of course with any item like this supervision is a must. The gate is metal with plastic over the tension rods.
Q:How many inches are there between the bars?
A:
Hi
Most of them are about 2 inches.. but when you need to use the ‘extension’ bar because we needed it for an opening that used the MAX measurement of 38.5– the largest opening was about 3.5″ and that was enough for our little 6lb puppy to squeeze thru— until I added something to block it…
Q:Can anyone who’s bought the white gate confirm that the bars on the ends are different (bent) compared to the bronze and brushed steel, which are just straight?
A:
The one we have is white and all the bars are straight, including the extensions on each end. It looks like the one in the photo with the mom and child, not the one with a blank background.
Q:my stairs is 41.5 wide so I assume this will not fit?
A:
They do. Just search north states gate, the price is 58.99 but it will fit the size youre looking for.
Q:My door jams are 28.5 inches, will this gate work for me? I am concerned about the tension rods not having enough room to adjust and tighten.
A:
Yes, it will work fine. We use ours without the tape or support caps & its very secure.
Q:Will this gate work for a 30 inch opening?
A:
Yes, I think it would. It has adjustable metal extensions on each side that you can twist to make it fit in your opening.
Q:Do you sell extra parts for this? I need the two extra bars to extend the width.
A:
I might have them. You want mine?
Q:We have wooden baseboard that extends several inches up the wall where gate to be mounted. Can we still install with tension mounts?
A:
As long as the measurement are within those for the gate, i don’t see wht not.
Q:Will this gate work on a 33″ opening, or will it be in between the dimensions of working with and without an extension?
A:
It should work just fine with a 33″ opening. The extensions will allow up to 38.5″. I’m using it on a 30″ opening with no extensions. You have the option of using one or 2 extensions.
Q:will my two yorkies be able to fit through the bars…my one is about 4.5 to 5 pounds?
A:
I don’t have any yorkies but the bars are about 2inches apart, hopefully this info helps.
Q:will it work with a small jumpy yorkie?
A:
Yes. Our small pup can not fit in between the bars and all our cock-a-poo’s cannot jump over.
Q:Im looking for this to work for my daughters room to keep a pet out but she can get in and out easily shes 5… would this work?
A:
The gate requires you to lift up on it (a small amount) and swing in or out as desired. I don’t know if this would be an issue for your Daughter. You could also adjust the width so it just catches the lock pin so it could be just pushed to go through, you would have to test it until you find what works best for your Daughter.
Q:Top of stairs
A:
Yes they are good stair gates but better touching a wall rather than banister poles
Q:How wide is each extension?
A:
3 & 5/8
Q:Can you order extra extensions
A:
Hi Denise!
Great question but I do not know the answer. My guess would be that it would reduce the strength of the gate, but I could be wrong. Best bet would be to contact the manufacturer directly.
Q:Bronze versus burnished steel: which is lighter? what is the difference?
A:
The bronze is what I have which is a chocolate brown. I am sure the steel would have to be lighter.
Q:Does anyone know if you can buy extra extension rods? I tried searching for them on amazon but am having a hard time finding any that are bronze.
A:
Try calling the manufacturor. They can tell u if they make it and where u can order it!
Q:Has anyone installed this in an entry larger than 38.5″? The top of our stairway measures 44.5″ and I would love to have it there.
A:
i can check tmrw when i get back to my house if no one answers before then. Okay I just checked, my gate is set for 37.5″ width but I don’t see why you couldn’t just use extra extension pieces to make it wide enough for your purposes.
