Q:can ferrets climb over this.? we have 3 and one of them is a climber she can climb on almost anything..

A:

We have three ferrets too. One is a Houdini. Even he can’t get over it. I love this for my ferrets. Wouldn’t use anything else after buying it.

Q:how difficult is it to open/close the gate?

It is not at all hard. I can do it with ferrets trying to get out.

A:

Yep so long as you put it the right way round but only until she grows big enough to jump over it.

as far as I can remember(we use it for ferrets and haven’t used it for over a year)—my husband took a slim pice of wood and nailed it into the wall and then the gate fitted tightly—hope this helps.Gay

Q:Could a ferret or kitten climb the mesh and get over?? or is it a solid piece in the center?

A:

It’s a solid piece. Like plexie glass. No mesh. My two ferrets have yet to climb it- it’s too high for them.. However, my kitten eventually figured out how to jump over it.. But that’s to be expected with a growing kitten. I would def recommend this gate, especially for ferrets! Hope this helps.

If you have baseboard it will have to mount flush to the top of the moulding unless you notch it which is a pain without proper tools.

Q:Can this mount between an angled wall and banister?

A:

I believe so. One side of the gate is a mount bracket and the gate is on a hinge that swings 180 degrees from the bracket. The other side of the gate is a detachable mount bracket the gate locks onto to close. I don’t see why the detachable mount couldn’t go on the banister and the permanent mount go on the angled wall.

Q:Does this gate swing open or does it telescope back into itself to open?

It will swing open.

Q:Anybody know if this can be mounted into concrete block? (Want to use it in classroom). Thanks!

A:

As long as the correct screws and tools are used. There is a flat panel that gets screwed to the wall and the gate hooks to that.

Q:has anyone used this outdoors to block off deck stairs?

A:

Yes I have. We have vinyl posts and didn’t want to drill into them, so we zip-tied 2x4s to the posts and drilled into that. Our porch is covered, so the gate isn’t exposed to all the elements, but it has held up well for over a year now.

Q:Can 2 of these gates be connected to fill a 120″ wide opening?

A:

You would have to mount one to each side of your opening in which the middle would not lock or secure unless you made something to do this. There is two long strips that attach to the wall one is to hold the permanent side the other the side that opens and locks. Would have attached picture of mine but could not. Hope this helps you.

Q:Is drilling needed?

A:

Yes. The gate has to be attached on both sides by screws which are provided. I used an electric screw gun and was lucky the gated area was finished in wood. The directions were not great and we regretted not assembling in reverse order, but the result is a sturdy, efficient gate.

Yes, you can mount it as close to the floor as possible, and the small dog should not be able to squeeze under it. GOOD LUCK!!!

Q:We would like to use this to block off a 48 inch stairwell outside. would this be suitable?

A:

Easily. We had to remove a section to fit a 42″ opening on our deck. This gates are great but can be finicky. People have a lot of trouble opening them and sliding the sections into one another. The trick to open is to push the latch button with your thumb and then lift straight up. Most try to pull back and have had a friend break the latch. The company is great and got a new one in the mail in two days at no cost. Use WD-40 on the channels where the sections slide into and they work like a dream. I’ve had these gates for five years and will buy these again if needed.

Q:Pressure mounted or hardware installed?

A:

I installed using hardware. I thought that was more secure.

A:

Yes, but it is for extra wide opening. You might want to look at a smaller one. Each panel is 18 inches wide with main panel being 19 inches wide. Total 4 panels.

Q:can two add together to expand to 100″ ?

A:

No, I don’t think so both ends are dedicated to hooking to the wall. I don’t think there is anyway to hook 2 together.

not sure about top of stairs as mine is in a double doorway. Installation was very easy

Q:Does this gate work if you have baseboards and/or trim on the wall where you want to install?

A:

I have baseboards and i had to put a piece of thin trim going from above the baseboard so that the mounting brackets at each end are evenly spaced out form the wall. Hope that helps.

Q:Can gate open either direction?

A:

Yes, it can provided you have it extended most of the way. If you stack it in the compact position it swings only as far as the stacking allows. It is a great gate!

Q:can you shorten the gate if you don’t tneed all that 62′ space

A:

Yes, it telescopes out so you can make it any size in between 62″ and the minimum size.

Q:Does this work with unparallel walls?

A:

I don’t think that would work. There is a swivel hinge on one side, so the gate can swing, however the latch end requires that the gate go on straight. Hope that helps.

Q:Can panels be added to this item to expand it farther than the 62″? If I bought 2 could I take one apart and expand it?

No, these panels are not flexible and very cheaply made.

Q:When you lift the latch to open the gate, does the entire gate lift evenly, or are you simply ’tilting’ the opening side?

A:

The hinges that it are mounted to the wall allow for upward movement, so the whole gate does come up.

Q:Can you leave the gate open?

A:

Yes. We keep ours closed but not latched so its not in our way walking thru the hall to other rooms. If it were to open into another wall, you may have to put something in front of it to keep it from closing or put some sort of catch on the wall.

Q:Can I mount this on an angle?

A:

It’s designed for perpendicular mounting in doorways and halls etc. So, I do not think mounting at an angle will work, unless you don’t mind having more of a gap under one end or the other.

Q:The top of my stairs is one side bannister one side dry wall. Is drywall okay or will this come right out like the Munchkin brand gate?

A:

If the gate is at top of stairs there should be 2X4′s behind the drywall at the top and the gate can be anchored thru the drywall and into the 2X4.
