A:
Yes, I actually only have one foot pedal on a couple of mine. If you only do one foot pedal you will need a washer on the other side. But to do no foot pedals I don’t think you will even need the washers and it will work fine with just the hand release.
Q:How do I purchase the extra pieces needed to expand to 45″?
A:
It comes with 2 side pieces, not shown in the pic. You can use none, 1 or 2 depending on the size of the doorway. Hope that helps!
Q:Will it work well in a 41″ opening? I think it would need the 8″ extension and tensioners extended to 3.5″, will it still be secure?
A:
My opening is 41″ and it works just great with the 8″ extension. It is solid and feels very sturdy.
Q:what is the measurement between the bottom oif the gate and the top pressure mounting pad
A:
30″
Q:what is the width of the actual door part that you walk thru?
A:
Its 22.5 inches. Because of the hardware that holds the latch to lock the door.
Q:Does this gate have an option to stay open?
A:
not that I have figured out. We have to prop something in front of the door to keep it open. You can hold it (keep it from slamming shut) and it will not lock and you can just open it with your hand instead of stepping on the pedal to unlock and open. It does swing both ways tho depending upon which side you step on the pedal. We like it very much!
Q:The top opening width was 41.5 bottom 40.5 will the extension work in my opening i have base molding
A:
Yes. The top and Bottom can be adjusted separately so it will work with molding. My molding is angled and the gate is square so it would be nice if the adjusters would swivel to accommodate the angle but they don’t. It works fine but occasionally becomes loose and needs to be retightened It is very secure as long as you keep it tight.
Q:Is this gate made of metal?
A:
Yes its all metal. Except in some of the latching mechanism. Very well made my 2 year old hangs on it all day long.
Q:Can this go outside (and stay there?) I am looking for an outdoor option for the top of deck stairs.
A:
I don’t know how well it would respond to the elements. As far as functionality, I don’t see any reason it would not work, but again, don’t know how long it would hold up all the uv rays, rain, etc..
Q:Is the foot pedal made of metal? Is it sturdy?
A:
Yes it is sturdy, no it is not made of metal, it’s a very hard plastic. We have had this gate up for months now and absolutely love it.
A:
There isn’t a lock, however they have to step pretty hard on the pedal to open it. My four yr old could do it, but not our three yr old neighbor. It definitely doesn’t open easily.
Q:Will this work on the bottom of a staircase?
A:
Yes as long as you have a flat surface for the sides to connect to. It’s presure so you will need to be able to tighten it. The footpedal makes it swing either direction
Q:Can this gate be installed with slightly curved baseboards?
A:
I really not sure. You can buy a cheap gate at the store and see if it works. If it does then buy this gate. Then take the cheap gate back to store. Buy this one. Love this gate.
Q:I am looking for a gate to put in my door’s doorway to keep her from coming out of bed in the middle of the night. Will this work for that purpose?
A:
I think it depends how old she is. My kids are 4 yrs old (35 lbs) and 3 yrs old (31 lbs) and they are able to stand on the foot petal and open the gait. My 1 year old (20 lbs) is unable to open it. We wanted something to keep our 1 year from freely roaming into the bathroom and kitchen and it works perfectly for that. But does allow our older boys to freely use these areas of the house. It is perfect for that purpose. I think it depends on how much weight/balance a kid has to be able to stand on the foot petal. Just a side note… We had the same problem with my oldest when he was almost 3…

It is perfect for that purpose. I think it depends on how much weight/balance a kid has to be able to stand on the foot petal. Just a side note… We had the same problem with my oldest when he was almost 3 yrs old and we used the nanny 911 method which worked amazingly. It did require a lot of patience and persistence but it was worth it. (The first night took 4 hours but by night 3 he was staying in his bed through the whole night without any chaos. To this day we say bedtime and he climbs into bed and goes to sleep without any issues.). I think you can google or YouTube Nanny 911 sleep or bedtime and should be able to find that.

Q:How loud is this gate? We would need something really quite.
A:
If u just let it close on its own it can be loud, but if u help it close With your hip or butt it’s very quiet. Other than that I really like this gate. I hope this help.
Q:Could I get an extra extension to make this fit my 48” opening?
A:
Thank you for your question. Unfortunately, we do not offer an extension for this product.
Q:I want to use this for a small dog. Can you tell me how far apart the vertical bars are? Thanks.
A:
Yes
Q:Is it easy to install? How long does it take to put together?
A:
Super easy to install. Maybe 10 minutes tops, depending on how quickly you can screw and unscrew the adjusters on the end.
Q:How big is the foot paddle? Tring to figure out if it will protrude too mcuh so that I cannot close the door.
A:
You can close door if you use only one foot pedal on outside. I did this. Use hand control from inside.
Q:Two questions: 1) Can this gate be used either at the top or bottom of stairs? 2) If so, are you able to use adapters for bannisters for no drilling?
A:
Yes gates can be used for stairs asking as there is a frame where they can be mounted on. As I said no drilling is needed as long as there is a flat surface you can pressure mount them. I hope this helps
A:
No it can’t.
Q:My door frame measures exactly 28 inches. Would this gate fit within the frame? Thanks.
A:
It won’t, the smallest opening it will fit is 30 inches—too bad, it is a great product
Q:How far are the tensioners extended for a 45″ opening? Concerned about stability extended out to the maximum. Am I better off with a wider model?
A:
We did not use the extension
