Q:Does this gate work well with baseboards? The doorway has a 33″ opening at the bottom but a 36″ opening at the top.

A:

There are 4 individual adjustment bolts, one at each corner of the gate. Each bolt has 3″-4″ of travel or ‘play’, so you should be able to use it with an opening of varying width.

Q:how is wide

A:

The gate that opens in either direction is 22 inches wide. I’m assuming that’s what you wanted to know. The width of the whole unit is adjustable.

Q:Can this be pressure mounted only, meaning not drilling the cups it comes with into the wall?

A:

Yes…no problem with it staying in place and it is secure.

Q:Is there a bar at the bottom that could be tripped over?

A:

yes

Q:Will this work in a hallway opening that is 30″ wide at the bottom (due to baseboards) and 31″ wide at the top?

A:

Yes, we had the same issue at bottom of stairs. And at the top where we attached it to newel posts. There are bolts that allow for adjustment. The ends of the adjustment caps sit in a cup that is screwed into wall, baseboard etc.

Q:How wide is this gate? I have a 41” opening at bottom of the stairs

A:

Details say for up to 40.5 inches, but extensions can be added. I do like the gate. Opens easily both ways and closes easily with the latch.

Q:Could this gate be used outside?

A:

No, I can’t see it being for outside use. The wooden parts aren’t treated. We use it at the bottom of our stairs to the second floor so our grandchild can’t climb up unattended.

Q:Where can you get the 5-1/2-inch and 11-inch extensions to allow this to fit a larger opening?

A:

On their website….it is the only place I could find extensions.

Q:Also, when you first open the box, does the gate look like its worped…the lock does not meet the gate? thanks

A:

Yes, I think a lot of people have this observation. It is designed this way. It lines up as you tighten the bolts on either side.

Q:Can you leave this gate open?

A:

Yes. To close it you have to pull it shut.

You can order kits off amazon. My husband said they were super easy to install

Yes. If you don’t want to damage the banister wood you would need to purchase a special top of stair banister kit. I think it’s from kidco. Also sold on amazon. Works great.

The door is made to look like mahogany color. The frame is called a dark silver, I would describe it as a dark gun metal, it is not shiny. End caps are soft black. It really is a very nice gate. I bought one for when the grand kids come. I didn’t want to hassle with the ones they had when my kids were young. I also wanted something nicer looking as I had just redecorated my condo with wood floors. My daughter and son liked mine so much that they got rid of theirs and bought ones like mine for their kids. Q:I want to place this inbetween our screendoor and front door, does the wood have any kind of weather sealant or is this a really bad idea?

A:

I think it will be fine. The wood is shiny like it has a protection to it. This gate is sturdy and beautiful. Looks great and blends in with any room. WAY better than the plastic ones. After I put one up, I ordered several more for all my rooms.

About 3 inches between bars.

Q:The discription says wood and siver but all pictures and comments discuss black or grey metal. I want wood and black or grey. Can you confirm the metal color on this stock number?

Hi Sue, I have 3 of these gates and am really pleased with them. The metal is NOT silver, it is indeed as you thought, a dark grey nearly black.

Q:I am looking for the Munchkin Loft Dark Wood Safety Gate. The picture for this product looks black and red? What is the actual color of this product?

A:

the gate is more the color of a cherry wood finish. some are slightly darker than others.

Q:Is it easy to open

A:

For an adult yes.

 

Q:I am actually looking for one exactly like this for our dogs, but I am wondering, will it will be difficult for my 6 year old to open and shut it?

A:

I don’t think so. I found that this gate opens and shuts a lot easier than many these days. All that is required is a somewhat firm squeeze and a downward push to open the latch. I would guess a six year old can do it easily.

Q:How wide are the openings between the slats? I have a very small dog

A:

2-1/4 inches between the wooden pieces and 2-3/8 between the wood and metal. We have cats and they definitely cannot fit between the slats.

Q:Do the three 2-3/4″ extensions make the gate extend up to 40.5″ or do the extensions add a potential 8.75″?

A:

You reach a width of 40.5 when using the included 3 extensions.

Q:The gate says pressure mount woth hardware. Does it have both options? The product details are not clear enough. Is it safe for top of stairs?

A:

At the top of the stairs is where I have mine. It’s very sturdy you also have a tab / lock at the bottom of the gate. not sure what you mean by both options except there are plastic caps you can either screw into the wall or double side foam tape you can use when you mount it. I used the tape.

Q:the picture shows black and wood gate but description says silver. What color are the metal bars of the gate?

Dark silver and the wood is a deeper color than the picture displays

Q:Can the support be screwed to the wall?

A:

We use the tension to secure to doorways. I think it might have came with something to screwed to the wall, but I am not sure we bought our gates over 2yrs ago and I can’t remember. I know using the tension mount we have not had any problems. We have had dogs jump on it,kids lean and push and people kick them and they hold strong!
