Questions and answers regarding Regalo Easy Step Extra Tall Walk Thru Gate
Q.Would this be high enough for a cat? Jul 22, 2013
A.It depends on how nimble your cat is. I have 2 larger cats (15 or so pounds), and they have not jumped it.
Jul 22, 2013 by Jenna B
Q.It says this is a pressure mounted gate, are screws needed at all to mount this gate? Sep 11, 2013
A.You don’t *need* to screw it into the wall, but it comes with screws. I have 2 rather rambunctious cats that will pull on the gate if I’m on the other side of it for too long. Without it being mounted to the wall, they would, without a doubt, pull it down on a daily basis.

Q.I need to mount this to the wall with screws (dog pushes it over) I lost one of those wall mount pieces, where can I get replacements?Feb 25, 2014
A.Home Depot has wall mounts that are similar in the hardware section.

Q.I’m trying to figure out if this would be strong enough for my dog, who is 100 lbs and pretty strong, but doesn’t jump. If not this, any suggestions? Aug 18, 2013
A.If the dog doesn’t jump on the gate it should work. Definitely mount to the door frame, it comes with the supplies. If you don’t put the screws in the wall then anything that pushes up against it will knock it down.

Q.Does this gate stay open, or does it need to be propped open with something? Also, does it swing open either way or just in one direction? Aug 28, 2013
A.It will stay open on its own. It only opens in one direction, it has a tab at the bottom of the gate but you can turn the gate so the door of it opens on the side you want…. Towards you or away from you. I turn mine so the tab at the bottom is on the side I don’t want my dogs pushing open. I hope this helps :-) I wish I could send ya pics to help see it.

Q.what is the width ofthegate? Nov 17, 2013
A.16″. I have to rotate a little sideways when walking through.

Q.Exactly how wide are the circles that push against the wall? Please only answer if you’ve measured them as precisely as possible.Mar 22, 2014
A.I measure them as 1 and 9/32 inches in diameter
Mar 22, 2014 by Marty
Q.Is the width adjustable and what is narrowest opening it will fit? Feb 28, 2014
A.I have one in a 32″ doorway, which is a common interior door size, and it will fit a 30″ space. I don’t think it will fit a 28 ” doorway. You have to buy the “optional” extender to fit a 36″ doorway.
Feb 28, 2014 by S. Williams
Q.what is the width May 18, 2014
A.The actual gate width is about 28″. I have it in an opened that is 35″. The sides are adjustable (you screw them in or out). I got them for my dogs, and they cannot get through. One is a puppy.
May 18, 2014 by D. Andersen
Q.can a cat fit through the slots? Apr 16, 2014
A.The widest gap is 2-3/4″. A small cat could easily pass through. A larger cat would have to work at it.

Q.Is it for dogs also, I have 2 pit bulls. Oct 22, 2014
A.My St Bernard went over the regular gate but has not tried this one. She wants to greet people at the door but they don’t want to greet her.

Q.how wide is the gate opening? Jan 23, 2014
A.16 inches.
Jan 23, 2014 by S. Thorn
Q.I purchased this gate and it appears to be too short without the extension and too wide with the extension, any options? Sep 9, 2013
A.The main part of the gate is made for a 30 inch wide door and can be adjusted a few inches. The extension adds 6 inches to accomodate a 36 inch door. One would have to be creative to get it to fit a door in between these two sizes.

Q.will it fit a 36 1/2 opening? what about a 40 1/2 opening? 9 days ago
A.It fits a standard door opening and it also comes with an expandable attachment, so I would say yes and yes!

Q.Can cats get through it from the gaps? Nov 12, 2014
A.Yes.. There is a gate for them at the bottom. My kitten uses it, but my tabby jumps the who gate!

Q.What kind of Y spindle did you use with this gate? Oct 12, 2014
A.I didn’t. The pressure was good enough. My son was a year old and it kept him safe.

Q.does it expand to 40 inches with the 6″ extension, or without? (so up to 46″ with?) Oct 3, 2014
A.Yes it does expand to 40″ with the extension. It is extremely easy to install.

Q.does this work in the stairway? Aug 26, 2014
A.I think it would as long as you use the screws and caps for semi-permanent installation. It has extra peices that can be removed to be more narrow or added for wider areas. I love mine. It is exactly what I needed.
Aug 26, 2014 by P. Boyer
Q.Can I buy replacement rubber “feet”? (The pieces that hold the gate against the door frame on either side) Aug 21, 2014
A.I would think you should contact the manufacturer and tell them your problem. I would think they could send you replacements.
Aug 21, 2014 by Linda Bridges
Q.Is this gate suitable for the top of the stairs? Jul 11, 2014
A.Yes. It is sturdy but it should definitely be mounted to the wall with the supplied mounts.

Q.I’m trying to find a gate that will allow my kitten access but will keep my German Shepherd out. Will this work for that? Jun 8, 2014
A.If your kitten is small she might slide between the bars. Mine are afraid of the dog and refuse to slide through or leap over the gate.

Q.This gate is too short to fit in my door and too long when I add the extension. My door’s about 30in wide. Can anything be done so it can fit? Jun 7, 2014
A.You can try to call the company and ask them what to do. Their number is on the instruction booklet. I did that when I had a problem and it really didn’t work out though. Best thing to do is to return it for a refund. Most complicated gate I’ve ever purchased.

Q.Will it work in 36 inch doorway Jun 3, 2014
A.I have mine in a 36 inch doorway. With the extension is comes with it works on my 42 inch hallway walls too.

Q.Once wall mounted, is it easy to take down and put up if you are having company over? May 22, 2014
A.Yes once it is up, it is easy to take down. The 4 mounts that mount on the wall would have to stay unless you unscrewed them every time. The mounts are not very big.
May 22, 2014 by Travis
Q.When this is mounted at a doorway, can the door still close or will it interfere with the door knob? May 19, 2014
A.It will close as long as you don’t place it next to the door. I put mine in the middle of the doorway. Our cat looks at the gate and walks away. As long as he can see us he is ok.

Q.What’s the smallest this gate goes to? May 15, 2014
A.Hi, this gate is 41″ tall (a little more than 1m); you can adjust the opening from 29 to 40″; I had to adjusted at the maximum because my dog was able to open the door; this gate is pretty strong but my dog can jump very high, so it didn’t work for me however I believe this produc may work for little kids
May 15, 2014 by Brisa Pena
Q.Can the gate door stay open? Mar 21, 2014
A.Yes. The door is on a hinge so you can leave it open if you wish.

Q.Does anyone know or use this as a gate on their outdoor deck to keep their dogs or cats from getting off? Would it be weather resistant? Mar 18, 2014
A.If it’ll fit within the opening of your deck, I don’t see why it wouldn’t work, although you would have to be a bit more specific with your question. Weather resistant, depends if you live in a place that has bad weather Bc I’m sure it’ll rust over time if it’s rained on a lot.
Mar 18, 2014 by Sarah Grier
Q.At what height can you mount the gate? Mar 15, 2014
A.The gate is approximately 4 feet tall. I’m not sure exactly what your question is asking. The gate mounts at the top and the bottom.

Q.How wide are the circles that push against the wall? Mar 14, 2014
A.They are 1.5 inches in diameter. They can be painted. We needed the gate for when our son visits with his large Lab that loves to chase our cats. I painted the cups so I can leave them up when the gate is not needed.

Q.Will it fit a 29 in doorway Mar 10, 2014

Q.Does the red latch have a locking mechanism to prevent kids from opening it? Feb 9, 2014

Q.What the order. Contain exactly . And how many extantion the package have ( for the width )? Feb 7, 2014

Q.which combination of gate and extension(s) would I need to span a 42″ space? I really like the gate and hope there is some combination that will fit. Dec 25, 2013
A.Reading the Regalo website, it says the extra tall gate goes 29-34 inches, and has a 6″ extension set. That still only gets you to 40″. If you don’t need the tall height, Regalo also sells an extra wide gate. That one is just regular height, though. Hope that helps.

Feb 19, 2014 by patrick hackett
Q.Space is 321/2 wide will gate adjust? Dec 2, 2013
A.The gate should fit in a 32 1/2″ width. If you need it a little wider you can just adjust the sides out another 1- 1 1/2″ for better fit. We love the gate.

Q.I need a gate to separate my two cats, ages 3 and 6, during their reintroduction. Are the spaces between the bars small enough for this? Nov 27, 2013
A.If they can jump well it won’t do you much good. If they are chubby kitties they won’t fit through. If they’re really skinny they will fit through. I use it to keep my dogs out of the kitchen. Personally I’d Just let them roam free together. I’ve got 4 cats the newest one acclimated quick, the one before that did too

Q.Would this work for a 40″ doorway? I noticed it only extends to about 36″ with the extensions but just want to make sure. Oct 9, 2013
A.I think it will with the extension piece

Q.How far apart are the bars? I have 10 lb Yorkie and I’m worried about her trying to squeeze through and getting stuck! Sep 9, 2013
A.I’m measuring about 2 1/2″ gap between bars. I don’t even see a cat slipping through them.

Q.I’ve seen some reviews that say the walk-thru is small. How wide is the walk-thru? Jan 12, 2013
A.16 inches wide. I am 6′ 1″, 265 pounds, with a 48″ waist, and turn slightly sideways to get through it. Once you adapt, it is fairly easy to get through it.

Q.Regalo tall gate: Any suggestions? May 12, 2012
A.I’m not sure exactly what you’re asking – this is indeed a tall gate which does not automatically close. Be aware that the walk-through area of this is pretty narrow, if you are intending on walking through it when it’s often open. Good luck!
